final drive
« on: December 01, 2019, 03:21:07 PM »
I have a question about the alignment of the final drive with the counter shaft.  As you will see from the attached picture, in order to have the alignment ring on the outer bearing align with the engine case, the final drive gear is not completely flush with the countershaft gear, and the inner bearing on the final drive is not flush with the engine case.  Is the the way it should be set up?  I have attached a picture for reference. Thanks

So I figured this out, the final drive gear has a "proud side" and a flush side, by reversing the orientation of the gear, and having the proud side face towards the sprocket end of the shaft, it all lines up.

Thank you for coming back and posting your findings. I may never need this information, but years from now someone may have the same problem and find your post and very much appreciate it. Too many times these threads end without ever knowing how it ended up.
