          Phil, I have nothing but the highest regard for the Old Indians and pictures of them  (or any part
of them, like that 1st shot of that Indian Chief front fender). I wish I had one of those fenders with the Indian head Light, to hang on the wall. Closest I have to one is a fender ornament from an Indian (Enfield) Trailblazer. It's not a light though) I also have an original "Roadmaster" script. To have an old Chief would be an ultimate goal to me.

You know, Bill, you can get the repop light and fender if you want to make a night light or something.  What a swell gift for your wife !
Here's a bad picture of a friends Scout that he races.
Here's a picture of me on my first Chief with a Bonnevile motor, just before I sold it.  Don't remember how long ago that was (pre-helmet laws), but somehow I got much better looking since then. Those engines sure have some giddy-up to 'em !

       Terry of Australia, have you seen it?  Check out the 53' - 85' era Thanks for the posting there Uncle, I am totally taken back by the sight of those old Indians. I may have to try my hand at doing a repro of a front fender and the light.

          Hey Uncle, That's one tough looking Scout and you, by the way, you look pretty "Dapper" sitting
 on that Chief (and with a Bonneville motor at that)! I'm jealous Uncle! Thanks for posting those.

I'm rather out of it so both of those links were enlightening.  A friend has a bunch of mods including a 4 speed, but I didn't know about the OHV set-up.  It's great that these compoanys are making it possible for people with too much money to relieve themselves.

      Uncle, that's the BAD thing about the whole deal, the cost is WWAAAYYY!!! over my measly budget!   Ir's cool that there is work being done to improve on and keep these bikes going but, there are a lot of us who are being left completely out in the cold. I didn't know if you had heard of the OHV conversion or not. It's interesting to keep up with but, sigh, that's all I can do is look, learn and yearn. . I saw one Chief somewhere that had a Vincent motor in it and looked quite good. If Floyd Clymer could have lived long enough to fulfil his dream of bringing the Indian back or if Sam Pierce had of accomplished it, the Indians would be rolling today. By the way, look what I just found. I've been checking this site since forever and finally something. Not much, bur somerhing all the same.

Here's a longshot.

Wondering if you or any of your friends in California might remember my 48 Chief when it roamed the West Coast.
I bought it in March '68 in Oxnard, Cal. at a small bike shop run by Frank Neff.
It was just as pictured--chromed fork, a yellow "one" ball on the shifter which comes directly out of the trans--no linkage.
Maybe it was owned by a guy named "one ball" because he had an unfortunate accident- I don't know.
It  was painted black and didn't have the rebar sissy bar (what was I thinking?).
Maybe somebody remembers it.

             Nice shot there Phil. That 26' Scout you posted was a lot like the one my Dad had years ago and he said it was his favorite. Wish I could afford ro get another one for him. Don't know if he could ride it now days or not. He's not as agile (or whatever) as he used to be, he'll be 82 in July and his legs don't operate quite as well either. I was out there in California from Dec 69' until Aug 70' (Discharged from USAF at that time) at Hamilton AFB and the surrounding area. Didn't have a bike then, arrived in that area with a 66' Red Dodge Charger with a 383 4-barrel, 4 speed, posi-traction and power steering was the only comfort option on the car. And, before I left that area, I had traded the Charger for a 69' Petty blue road runner 2dr coupe. Hindsight makes me wish that I had kept the Charger and bought the road runner outright. I liked the road runner but, of the 2, I'd have kept the Charger. About the only bikes I remember seeing were H-D choppers and they looked like they were about half again longer than your bike.
