Sourcing Airbox insulators for 79 CB750k
« on: December 05, 2019, 03:51:41 PM »
I want to get a hold of new insulators for the airbox side and manifold side of the carbs as I have several air leaks. I've found manifold side insulators at 4into1 but I can't find airbox side insulators. Are they replaceable or do I need a new airbox? The leak is pretty bad but I can't see it. Idle sky rockets with carb cleaner.

I think part of the problem is that I was able to get the airbox seated completely on to the carburators, but then I can't get the whole assembly to slide forward enough to go into the manifold insulators. The bolt on the top of the airbox that slides in the frame only gets about halfway towards the front. I remember it being almost all the way forward, but no amount of prying, sliding, cussing, or fussing could get me passed the halfway point. When I start the bike it puffs air out of the insulators and you can feel it pop. Then it dies when the choke is cut off.

Is there a trick to sliding it all the way forward? Brute Force didn't do it.
