Seat question
« on: December 11, 2019, 10:30:02 AM »
My bike is 500 K0. There is a Giualiani seat but I prefer the original. K0 is hard to find. I even prefer the K1 or K2 design but the installation is different. I need to buy a hinge anyhow as now it is welded onto the seat. Questions:

Is installation of K1/2 seat possible?
If so, what material should I buy to make it work?
Can the lock for the K1/2 just be bolted onto the frame or does it need extra work?

To summarize, what does it take to install the K1/2 seat on a K0 bike?

You need the K1/2 seat with hinge and plunger plus the seat lock complete with mounting bracket that bolts to the frame on the same holes.
If you do it and dont want the original bracket and lock i will buy it off you.

New k1/k2 seat - https://www.ebay.com/itm/Honda-CB-550-Four-K0-K1-K2-Seat-Reproduction-with-Lettering/293229190119?hash=item4445d25be7:g:oPIAAOSwaLpZ3j7k
To avoid disappointment, note that this one ^ is for: the CB550, CB550K1, CB550K2 and CB500K2 (ED, F, G) and can be bought much cheaper at DS: https://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/parts/by-part-number/partnumber_77200374003P/ None of the repro's so far have the document compartment the original had.
The seat for the CB500K1 and CB500K2-A differed and thus so does its repro: https://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/parts/by-part-number/partnumber_77200323050AP/

Thanks a lot all for the info. Has anyone ever tried one of those DS seats? The price is really good compared to what I find elsewhere. If a make the final change I will come back to you and see to what point the parts that came off can serve you. Now it all looks a little like taken apart and made to fit.

I haven't bought a seat off them but I have bought other repro parts and they are always good quality. DSS has an excellent reputation so I doubt you will have a problem.
