This WAS my collection
« on: December 18, 2019, 08:19:42 PM »
This was the main part of my collection, but circumstances over time, these are now gone.

       Left to right: 1983 Kawasaki GPZ1100, 1980 Honda CB750K W/Sidecar, 1980 Honda CBX & 1980 Honda CB650C

All are gone & missed, but you do what you have to do.

And I hope you all will overlook my doubling up, on the photo, a bit rusty at posting photos, as you can see.  ;)

That was a nice looking collection Bill!
I have come to realize that we are merely custodians of our collections. At some point, for any number of reasons, we will let them move on to someone else to look after them. Hopefully it is by choice rather than necessity.
I had a pretty big collection that I sold off to help fund a new garage. I miss a few out of the collection and actually ended up buying one back about four years later.
Sometimes our priorities are shocked by reality and we have to make some tough decisions......:-(

Yeah, you are probably right, about being custodians, Kevin. Still got a few, though most are, what I like to call "Projects"  ;D   And yeah, they are nice to have, but "Life" steps up & decisions have to be made. But, it is, what it is.  ;)

Stev-o, the GTX, was another one, that had to go to another owner. But, all is not completely lost, I ended up with a 1971 Dart Swinger, that is no Hot Rod, but pretty nice though. Got a mild mannered 318 Torqueflite.

Oops, sorry bout that. was kinda  one of those things that pop up, in desperate times. But, it did ease the blow abit, with the Swinger in the deal. Swinger was originally a 198 Slant Six car & a previous owner swapped a 318 into it. Complete new exhaust, new gas tank, a few other new parts, nice interior, like new tires, MiniLite wheels (I think that's what they call them). Rides good & all. And, being a "B" Mopar guy, mainly, I have had 2 road runners, the GTX, a '76 Volare' road runner (not that much on performance, but we liked the look & it road and handled well  & a 2 '66 Chargers (1 was a 383-4speed & the other was 383 Torqueflite), in the past. Anyway, I am down the Swinger & a 2002 Durango & the Wife has her 2011 Town & Country. Getting older(pushing 73) and still managing to get out there and take care of things, so far Trying to use Demon78, as an example.

Catch you all later on.  ;)

I was working on getting that one set up, to be able to take a "Special Needs" young man out for rides, so he could get some wind in his face. BUT, that was before my Wife passed in 2009. Things changed a lot, from that point on. Personally though, I enjoyed the sidecar on  the 750. Had some weights, in a burlap bag, sitting in the sidecar, when someone wasn't going to be in it.

Oh, man, Bill, I am SUCH a Dart fan! All the 1970s MOPARS.... :D

Need a nice 2-bbl from a Dart that had a 360? Someone gave it to me when he put a 4-holer in its place, after which he swapped in a 340 6-Pack instead. My motorhome has the '77 360 in it, so he gave me the 360 carb, but the motorhome cam and carb are different critters from the car's version. It's been in a box, under my workbench, for 12 years, awaiting someone. If you want it, send me your address?

Hey, sounds good, sure appreciate it, PM sent. It's a pretty nice one and while I have also liked these & the Dusters, I have mostly had the "B' body Mopars ('69 road runner, '69 GTX & '66 Charger). My Parents had a '65 Dart Wagon & a "Gold" Duster, years back.

Nice collection it was.

I see you had some Jawas too, good for you!

Thank you, appreciate that.  Yeah, I was sort of raised around not only Indian's, from my Granddad's Indian motorcycle shop, but Jawa, CZ, ESO, BSA, Royal Enfield, among others.

currently have a Jawa 250 (that I drug my feet on getting finished, a couple of GZ175s & my original little Jawa 50cc (that was originaly a moped style (no pedals though) modified ride (it needs to be resurrected as well).

My 1st "Streetable" motorcycle, was a 1958 Jawa 125 ( that I had to actually put together, for my 1st motorcycle) that was titled as a 1958. but there was a mix of parts in that one. Dad told me that he got his 1st motorcycle that way and I was going to do the same thing as he had to do. I had just become 13 in March and there I was, in May, starting the build of my 1st ride. It wasn't until a bit later, that I fully realized what a "Gift" my Dad had given me and that my Granddad had given my Dad.

Hey Kevin, Nice Cuda (yellow fender and all)  ;)  I clearly understand your feeling too. Yeah, the T/A sure would be a Cool One as well, to still have. I saw them, the AAR Cuda  the Super Bird  could only "Dream". Great stuff! Nice to have the 400F too. I have a 400F, that I picked up, for a project (no title though)  never have managed to get around to do anything with it.

And, I sympathize the with the "hit n run", my Daughter and I were out on Interstate 30 in Little Rock, one day and had a young woman, in the lane, to the right of us, suddenly decide to change lanes! Only "We" were already in that lane! Fortunately she just did a little damage to my right front passenger door, she took off  being in rush hour traffic, all I could do, was to pull over soon as I could  call the State Police. Of course, it was a "Hit n Run", so case closed! The stories we could tell...

Believe me, I definitely understand that. Besides others, there is one that I wish I still had, that wouldn't interest some,
it was a Dodge Royal Monaco 4dr. BUT, it was a "Retired" Arkansas State Police Car. Funny thing was, when I had it out,
people would suddenly get a look on their faces, when they saw it and they would slow down. LOL THEN, they would
realize it was an OLD State Police Car and not in service any more. They'd shake their heads and drive on. The Lights &
markings were gone and it was just a big blue car. Only police car I have ever remembered seeing, with hidden
         headlights.

Neat story.  My first bike was CZ250, simple, reliable 2 stroke.

Nice, that you had the CZ250.  My Dad built a Jawa 250, back in the early 1960's and while I don't remember much about what the sources were, for all of the Jawa parts he had, to work with, I have a feeling that the motor might have actually been a Perak 250. I am wondering about this, because it did not have the traditional Gearshift, that also served as the kickstarter. His had 2 individual items (kick starter  gearshift). After the Perak's, as any owner would know, the Jawas from the 125 models, to the 350 Twin, had the gearshift serve also as the kickstarter. Now, the 250-35o - 6 Day Trials & the Motocross models, MAY have had individual Gearshift & kick starter, I don't remember for sure. I only saw a 250 6 Day Trials (we called them Scramblers, back then) And I never saw a Motocross model.  Anyway, back to what I was getting at. My Dad built a 250 Jawa, using his ideas, about wheel size & such and used "Trials information", from the Factory, to build that 25 Motor, into a Screamer. And anyone who knows the old Jawas, knows that Jawas were kind of like VWs, they were cheap to buy, dependable, but not a Screamer. My Dad's didn't even SOUND like a 2 stroke, when idling or when getting it on down the road.

But, I have to say, it is always good to hear from someone who not only knows something about the old Jawas, but also had one.   ;)

I am in no way an expert on Jawas, but you are correct, the older models had separate levers for kickstart and shifting.  When I got my first Honda, the shifter seemed to be very flimsy.

There are still guys in my old country who restore and ride old Czech motorcycles - with and without hacks, including 500 OHC.   Here is the whole history of Jawa:

Jawa was also sold under license to be manufactured in India - as Yezdi:

and as far as I know, the name is now used by Mahindra for  a line of 4 stroke motorcycles:
