The weather this week has been cold and miserable as we head into winter, but the sun came out yesterday, and I prayed that it would continue into the weekend. The weather gods were good to me again today, it was sunny but cold, but now that I've got some decent cold/wet weather gear, cold doesn't matter so much. I took my new battery and 10 litres of fresh gas over to the self storage place, along with my 15" adjustable wrench, so I could straighten my bent brake pedal from when I dropped the bike on it's side a couple of weeks ago, when I was pushing it home, due to the dead battery.
It only took a few minutes to swap out the battery, dump in the fuel, and straighten the brake lever (thank God it was steel and not alloy, or it probably would have snapped) and I was off on an adventure. The CV restrictions have been lifted, so of course there were cars choking all the main roads, but that's alright, I prefer to take the road less travelled. I took in several little towns, and the little Honda VFour ran like a swiss watch, but I had to keep my enthusiasm in check when I hit the rev limiter (11500 RPM) in third gear when I realised I was doing well over the "Ton".
I stopped for gas after only 60 miles, (the fuel consumption isn't great at warp speed) and realised how filthy the poor thing was, the last couple of rides in the rain had taken their toll.

I decided to ride up to Hanging Rock, the site of the famous novel "Picnic at Hanging Rock", where a group of young schoolgirls disappeared in 1900, never to be seen again. Sadly it was closed, or I probably would have found them, chicks dig VFR's.

On the way back I stopped at a deserted car wash and gave it a quick scrub, before heading off again.

As comfy as it usually is, my back and right shoulder were killing me after only 130 miles. I had steroid injections into my lower spine back in March, and it worked great, but my shoulder has been bad for awhile, so I may have to ride my "cruiser" style bikes in this weather, and hopefully get out on the VFR and hopefully my RC51 SP1 in the warmer months again. Regardless, it was a great ride.
