Well I got foils on my ride yesterday, got am ready but shortly before we left  startec getting a sore spot  on my leg, and feeling a bit off, so I knew I was going down soon. . One of the guys on the ride showed up here , so I rode to the meet spot in town where my son joined us. So I had to make the decision to bail out., and headed to the pharmacy to get some antibiotics. They were great there, I explained I was crashing fast and they got my order ready in 10 minutes.
Home I went, straight  to bed, and getting good and warm as the chills hit. And been there ever since, have not eaten anything since yesterday morning...... don't much feel like it. Looks like I might pull out fast, that is good news.
Terry you storage being reduced hours that sucks, and it doesn't make that much sense. Do they have common areas like picnic tables.? At our storage place you can get 24 hour access, there is one washroom  for 400 units, nowhere to hang out in groups. Some folks work in their units and depend on them for their livelihood.  We can visit others  and chat , but it's not a big party place..

Thanks Frank, no, it's really annoying actually, I had bikes stored at "Storage King" in Canberra when I worked there and I had 24 hour access with my own key card, they had toilets, showers, 24 hour security, etc etc. There's a storage king near me here in Melbourne, but when I needed to rent a storage space they didn't have any ground floor units, so I had to take my bikes to this old truck depot that just uses 20 foot shipping containers. The price was about the same and I was desperate to get my bikes out of the weather, but I'm tempted to contact Storage king and get them moved, or better still, build another garage, or a lean-to on my existing garage to store them, as the shipping container costs me around $4K (2500 USD) per year.

I hope you're feeling better soon, "Old Mans Disease" is taking it's toll on me, the steroid shots I had in my spine worked really well so my back was only a little sore, but my right shoulder and arm were in agony yesterday, luckily I installed one of those fancy alloy throttle lock thingies back in 2009, so I could cruise along at 100 MPH just holding on with my left arm, and the big windscreen my brother ordered with the bike when new kept me from getting blown off the back of the bike. Not sure if I would've managed 200(+) miles without that screen. It was great to get it out though, a couple of young guys on sports bikes thought they'd zap the old codger on the big cruiser and were shocked when I accelerated past them from 60 to 140 in a couple of seconds, without changing down.......... ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Hey Frank, is this the same type of thing you had a year or two ago? Get well soon, buddy...
Terry, buy yourself your own shipping container; probably cheaper than what you're paying for rent. I've seen a "barn" made from 2 units spaced about 15 feet apart, with a roof spanning both units. ;)

Ok, for the record this is number 6.  Would probably be double that, but I felt it would be kinda arrogant to post public violation of governor Wittmer's stay at home orders.  Anyway, didnt get any good pics on the way home on monday, but it was a damn good ride.  The orange f sings a sweet song on a full tank of 90 octane eyhanol free at 90mph on the freeway.  With the openness of the breadbox airfilter and the quiet kerker baffle i could literally hear the intake tract reach its resonance.

Yeah Frank, usually carry cash when I travel, so had plenty of change in my pocket.  I am old enough that I can remember using payphones quite a bit...still not really totally comfortable with always relying on smart phones..

The boats are docked in the town of Leland where historic houses and buildings are built right on the docks.  A good sized river empties into a very well sheltered bay on Lake Michigan.

Started the 2020 Cattle Drive this morning.
498 miles from home today.
Tracked 303 of it from the Rever App.

Let me tell you something about the Rever App.  There's a lot of challenges and highlights and communities.
But the thing that made me reflect today.  They rolled out a odometer challenge for kids charity.
Sponsored by Honda, benefitting the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.

I got beef with brain cancer.

So the next time I saddle up to eat miles across the desert.  The rides recorded by Rever users will result in donations made to foundation.

In memory of Larry Johnson M.D.

(Edit;. Technically, the Rever challenge starts June 7th and there is a registration fee... personal donation of $46 was made.)

Good job Cowman, I see you're stilling enjoying that FJR1300. I'm taking my first gen FJR1300 out on Saturday to do at least 100 miles, if the weather isn't disgusting, I'll do a couple of hundred, so I can wash a full tank of clean fuel through it before I take it in for a roadworthy inspection next week to legally put it back on the road after almost 4 years of gathering dust.

Terry's FJR1300 1 June 2019 by Terry Prendergast, on Flickr

It's done almost 147,000 miles and has never been apart, even for clutch plates. It handles, stops and rides like a sports bike, will happily do 150 MPH, and can be ridden all day without aches or pains. As we head into winter here, it'll be the perfect bike for some long winter rides. ;D

Not gonna lie, there was a time when I thought about stuffing a rag in the gas tank and lighting the bike on fire.  But that wasn't anything to do with the performance of the venerable FJR.
Forget that punk.

Clocked another (get this lulz) 456.7 miles today.
6h:16m seat time.

I wish I could say I'm not starting to feel "it".  But the lumbar injury from the ski slopes is getting cranky.  I'm thinking it's time to add a sheepskin.

Gonna get on the pony express route in the morning.  Wagons East!

I didn't swing by Carmen's.  Judging by the governors orders, she, and the casinos are all closed.

Was just happy to get some tacos from our brother at the racers cafe

Rack up #9 for me, I drove over to the storage place today and dragged my big blue Yamaha FJR 1300 out for a "pre-Roadworthy Inspection" test ride on an unregistered vehicle permit. The Motobatt battery is at least 5 years old but probably much older, and sitting for the last few years hasn't been good to it, but I was happy that after having to jump start it before the ride, the battery was fine after 204 Km when I stopped to refuel it. The fuel economy is amazing too, 50.5 MPG (Imperial gallons = 4.54 litres as opposed to American gallons = 3.7 litres) so a great long distance bike when you're on a budget.

Terry's FJR1300 Sat 30 May 2020 by Terry Prendergast, on Flickr

Being on an "Unregistered vehicle permit" I was being very careful as even though it says I can "test" my bike prior to booking it in for a roadworthy certificate, cops are not at all sympathetic if they pull you over hundreds of miles from home, so I took all the back roads and only saw one cop car, but luckily for me he was in the process of booking someone else, so I cruised on by and hoped he didn't have his "Unregistered vehicle detector" that would have told him that my bike wasn't actually registered. Regardless of looking in my mirrors a lot, I had a great ride, and only stopped to pump up  the tyres, take a couple of pics, and refuel it on the way home. I'll get it over to Ace Motorcycles for a roadworthy on Tuesday or Wednesday, then book it into VICROADS (DMV) to get my new plate.

Terry's FJR1300 Sat 30 May 2020 5 by Terry Prendergast, on Flickr

So #9 is done, I'm hoping to get out on my old BMW K100RS next, it hasn't seen daylight since 2014 or 2015, I can't remember. It'll need a battery for sure, and it felt like either the clutch was seized, or maybe it's just the cable, but we'll see, at least I kept it's "Historic registration" up, so I don't have to worry about dodging cops. ;D

Thanks Dave, yeah, that bike is amazing, 235,000 Km and still runs like a new bike, and has never been apart, not even for a clutch. It has had all brake disc rotors replaced though. I was wondering which will have more grunt, it with it's EFI and mod cons, or my kawasaki 1428cc beast with 40mm Mikuni smoothbores, GPZ1100 head, big cams etc. I have a feeling that the Yamaha will deliver much better fuel mileage........ Motobatts are hit and miss, I've had good ones and bad ones, and one dealer I spoke to hates them as he has multiple warranty claims with them. I can't complain for the most part, but I've had a couple of duds. ;D

Did 126 miles today on my CB550K1, weather rather cold (~15 degree celsius), at the end wet road (after rain).
But happy at the end!

So, first ride >100 miles in 2020 on one of my SOHCs recorded
