Kevin, i have not got the michelins yet, and its just about the only brand i have not used before.  Parts unlimited had no dunlops, bridgestone, avon, metzeler, or pirellis, or continentals to fit my gs1100.  So yeah, id say we got a bit of a tire shortage goin on.

Hmmm..... Bridgestones and Dunlop’s made in Japan, Michelin’s made in Thailand.

Now I'm kinda disappointed I didn't make the trip to Gilmore.  I wasn't sure how the turnout would be with everything going on...

Insted, I met up with a group of friends, Mostly Harley riders, and Rode from Flint, to Bancroft, then Fowlerville, with the final destination of Hell.  With the return trip The total was just under 114 miles.  It was near perfect riding weather.  I NEED to start looking at new riding gear though, my Jacket no longer fits (Gained way too much weight during quarantine) and is beginning to show its age (20 years) with some of the stretched seams beginning to fail...

Jim, i was also apprehensive about attending. I spoke to the Gilmore folks before the meet and was assured that they would be following all safety protocols and that allowed entries would be reduced (100?) and attendance would be clamped (500?). I don’t know if any were turned away but the show field was about half full and one adjacent visitor field was full.... sounds like they hit their numbers. I wore my mask the entire day but was in the minority on the outdoor grounds (masks not req’d). I was not uncomfortable at any time, but that doesn’t make any difference.
My riding jacket is 18 yrs old and just barely fits. The place where I got it had a huge showroom with all kinds of gear, out of business now. I haven’t yet started shopping a new jacket.

Ride #17, 111 miles, 48mpg, 84f, cloudy

Sunshine and 68 when I rolled out but the clouds are building this afternoon and it will rain here before the day is done. I’m on the verge of the 90000 mile mark, but it can wait until the the next ride.
I stopped at Whitmore lake for the photo. There is no public land on the lake but the church owns a bit of frontage and the gates were open so I pulled in. Immediately I heard a voice yelling at me and thought I had pissed somebody off very badly, but after I shut the motor off what I heard was “is that a 71?”. The happy guy explained that he had an RD350 just before he got his Candy Garnet Brown K1. His CB is long gone, he’s been through various Harleys, and is now riding a newer T120 Triumph. So we talked for a while more and he was thrilled to be looking at the image of his own CB from 49 years ago. I took my photo and as I was about to depart, he asked me to wait so he could also take a photo. I’m pretty sure it made his day and it was nice for me as well. :) :)

After a large time gap, I completed ride #8...150.7 miles
I headed west around Lake Ontario so I could pick up the “double bridge” scavenger hunt photo and get that game running again.
I continued west/southwest to Waterford as I wanted to check out the fishing opportunities at the Waterford Ponds.  Will go back there for some bass fishing in the cooler fall weather .
Found a few windy roads on the way back home.  Nice day to be out for a ride .

Ride #18 120 miles 48 mpg 74f out 82f back

I like riding in the rural area, but it keeps getting further away. When I was younger the cornfields started at Newburgh rd, a mile west of here. Nowadays the last RYG traffic signal is at Beck rd (8 miles) and the first cornfield I saw today was beyond Whitmore Lake (23 miles). Beyond Beck the rural lands are being converted to residential, so far low density, and beyond that, the horse farms. So it’s nice going out past Beck and nice all the way back until Beck, which is most of the ride.
Making 90000 mi was a bit of a letdown as the 9 is dirty as the 8 is also, from a hack (me) applying too much graphite to a wiggly speedo drive a long time ago. Maybe this offseason it’s time to freshen the clocks.

1-miles out
2-miles in
3-Corner of Mast rd and Strawberry Lake rd. A former farm, the barn is gone, silo remains, nice pond. Across the road the home has its own landing strip. I believe the owner has a Cessna. Last time out I saw an auto gyro take off.
4-Magnificent tree lined farm entrance drive, farm is being gobbled by housing development in Chelsea. 100 feet behind the CB there was a family of Sand Hill cranes, formerly protected species now known as “ribeye of the sky”. Another 100 feet there were 2 deer resting in the shade, a buck with small rack in velvet. Best not to approach wildlife with CB and camera.

Every time I go to work it is a 120 mile ride, and I am essential, so I have been going to work. I haven't really counted those, but I rotate through my bikes with current registrations for those rides.
I did take an Iron Butt Association ride on Wednesday. I started in Pennsylvania, went to Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky, West Virginia, Maryland, and back to Pennsylvania.
1130.4 miles on my 1997 Goldwing. I know, not a SOHC, but despite the rainstorms, was a decent ride.

Ride #9, 103.8 miles
Took the RD250 out for a run.  The weather was a bit cooler than expected.  I could have used another layer under my jacket.  Wandered out-of-town on some known and some unknown roads.  Stopped for a photo op with an owl, cardinal, Canada goose and a duck.

Ride #19 132 miles, 48 mpg, 64f out, 74f back, partly cloudy
The weather has cooled a bit, it’s perfect for jacket riding: vents zipped in the morning, open after lunch.
I got a few photos of rusty agricultural yard art. Then lunch at the Clear Lake Grill, outside dining only and I was the only one there. It’s out of the way, too bad because it’s good. I wouldn’t have found it except that I’m on the CB.
One more to go and the CB is running great!

1- miles out
2- miles back
3- truck/tractor with sickle mower
4- tow truck
5- 2 bottom plow
6- reuben and rings at Clear Lake Grill

We kind of forgot to trades bikes yesterday so I haven't tested out his Hornet yet but look forward to it. I was riding my Suzie 1200 Bandit so he didn't get too far away from me !  :D  Funny that both of our boys has one of them.

I’m not used to 11s bikes or the instant throttle response. I’m very used to my 50 year old stretched out throttle cables.
The 919 is on the “best used bikes” list.
Although I did show a Harley rider that tried to take advantage what the back end of a CB750 with new clutch plates looks like.  :) :)

Maybe there is a dark horse out there, Frank. But it won’t be me, today. I spent some time with my bride, walkin’ through the woods, minding our business.... until we pissed off some yellowjackets, to our detriment.
Supposed to have a rainout tomorrow, maybe Wednesday?

We went for a 8 day, 2700 mile ride last week.  I don't know how to count them.  Each day is a ride?  Plenty of legs went over 100 miles between stops.  Do they count as an individual ride?  At any rate,  Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, and last but not least, Nevada were covered.  Just a few pix as my old Canon Elph is busted, and I dislike cell phones as cameras, but here you go.

Montpelier, ID KOA was the first stop.  The Montpelier one is the nicest KOA I know of (not saying much, I know) but they have jacked up their tent site rate beyond reason, so I doubt I'll use it again -

Carter, Wyoming -

The Rangely, CO town park has great tent sites for a reasonable price, includes a shower -

A lake in Colorado, whose name escapes me -

A great forest service campground about 8 miles off the main road, can't remember the name of the that place either.  8 days of dehydration will do that to you -

Monarch Pass, pretty fun climbing and descending -

Rifle, CO has become unrecognizable to me, but we stopped at a McDonald's for sausage burritos, an M/C touring dietary mainstay.  Ronald is doing his part to keep us all safe -

We went to see our old pal Tony at his art gallery outside of Branson, CO, but he may have heard we were coming and went fishing.  Stop in there if you are in the area.  Some great work in there.  The Dodge Coronet is a work of art itself -

The Branson town hoosegow.  Judging from the jailbird's t-shirt, his offense was likely public urination -

The hotel at Folsom, New Mexico.  Since we were tenting it, I didn't find out what their rates are.  Reasonable, I'm sure -

Folsom main street -

Meet Fluffy the Kitty -

Breakfast at the taco truck in Green River, UT for both us and some kittens -

The canyon above Helper, UT -

Car shows have about gone the way of the dodo bird this summer, but happily we found this one in Jackpot, Nevada.  Just two of many interesting examples there.  Nice piece of work fitting the Cummins diesel in the pickup -

My gf and I are trying to work our way up to longer days for a big trip we have planned later this month. So this weekend we chose a destination about 200 miles away and tried to do it in two 100 miles legs with only one stop in the middle. Those are both firsts for me.

Day 1 was about 200 miles,

Day 2 was about 120 miles,

Day 3 about 200 miles again,

and finally day 4 was only about 60 miles.

This was the first big ride into unknown territory for me and the 400. Usually I just stay in the puget sound/peninsula area. The 400 did great with no problems whatsoever. Except for the chain which stretched quite a bit over the course of the weekend. It sags now and I hope it can still be used.

Reading about "long trip" prep on here one thing I noted was to find the sweet spot or speed that the bike likes to ride at. Unfortunately on highway 90 (where we did most of the riding) you have no choice but to go 80-90mph the whole time. But the 400 was fine cruising 80. I only ever used 5th gear a few times going downhill, and never used 6th.

Jake if the chain stretched that much, time to change it before it ruins your sprockets...provided they are in good shape. Bankerdanny had a similar experience with an inexpensive chain.

The chain only has 2-3k on it. Same with sprockets It is something like an EK chain, not DID. I was wondering if this was normal since the ride was about 600 miles total. The manual says the service interval is 500 miles. I have a new DID chain I can put on if needed.
