Well I was hoping I'd get my big blue Yamaha FJR1300 registered this week, but the earliest I could is next Wednesday, almost 4 years to the day that the registration expired in 2016. So I could have gone over to the self storage place and pulled out the VFR750 or Triumph Rocket III, but decided that I'd just jump on the old sportster and knock off ride #11.

Queens Birthday Ride 2020 8 by Terry Prendergast, on Flickr

I chose a different route again, and as it was a balmy 55 degrees when I left home, and I was expecting a heat wave of around 65 later in the day, but as I continued into the hills, it just got colder. I stopped for a minute to snap some pics so I could unfold my hands and try to put some heat back in them, and give my back and butt some relief. I saw this old building and decided to take a closer look.

Anyway, was a great ride, 148 miles of mostly back roads was great fun, but I was happy to get home. All going well I'll have the big blue Yam on the road next weekend, and it'll be nice to hide behind it's big barn door fairing on a chilly winters day. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Yeah mate, there's a few of them just like that place in various parts of Victoria, I often wonder if they were built by the same people? Should have a slate roof, hopefully that one's just temporary while they restore the interior? ;D

yeah i spent years around bendigo/ballarat castlemaine areas and those blue stone buildings were truely meant to be built once and last forever, which they do,also a lot of old neat well built train tunnel entrances that date way back still sound,im no expert but i love old solid structures like that, like dam walls and such.

Hell yeah, the only thing I like about working at Victoria Barracks is the old buildings, my maternal grandfather and his family were all stone masons, and just about every building they ever built is still standing. ;D

Ride 4 116 miles, 2.3 gal, 50 mpg, sunshine, 74f
I went by the Metro Riders grounds of the Michigan-Ontario Trials Association today. It didn't look like much: a field, 10 acres?, no sign, nobody, no nothing. I have never been to a trials meet, but there is a meet scheduled here 10/4 and maybe I will be there. Any trials riders around here?

Good job Kevin.  There are a few trials riders on another forum I’m on.  Jumping up on logs and big rocks is not for me though.

Ride #6 yesterday:  I looped up through Erin then east along some country roads to Bolton and then Kleinburg.  It was nice to ride on a few roads I’d never been on.
Total of 124 miles.

Took a day off work and finished my second 100+ mile ride - Tacoma down to Olympia and US101 out toward the coast. Still don't have trim on the tank or side covers after the teardown last winter but the functional stuff has been flawless on the two long rides so far. (I may be pushing my luck to say that.) I stopped in Steilacoom for a mocha and scone on the way back. How civilized is that?

Good for you pmanning! Your priorities are in order. Your bike is looking good, nice and clean. Blue skies, blue water, terrific scenery. A winning combination.

I rode the North Cascades Hwy. 20 to Omak last Friday and spent the night. Our favorite place to eat closed down, no more smoked prime rib, we had to eat at Subway. :'( The next day there was a huge lightening storm coming up the coulee so we skipped going to Grand Coulee Dam and rode to Wenatchee on Hwy. 97 for the night. Our favorite place there was open with limited capacity so we got our boneless rib eye steaks and drinks. 8) The following day we rode Hwy. 97/ Hwy 20 back home. It was a 600 mile weekend. ;D Next month we are going on a 5 day ride to Missoula Mt. so we can ride Hwy. 12 back towards Lewiston Id. Hwy. 12 has a 97 mile stretch following the river that is all curves. ;D

I thought of that too but I don't even have an engine in my frame so I'll just live vicariously 99.1 miles at a time.

That's through Idaho? Highway 12 westbound? Is that the Lochsa river?
If so, I've been there one time, with my new bride. 45 years since we were there, almost to the day.
On our way from Yellowstone to the Columbia and the Coast highway.

I only ride about 100 miles non stop about 3 times a year :'(.
So I'll do 100 x 20 mile rides. I'd average about 4 of them a week.

Come on Ken, try harder mate, you live in motorcycle heaven 365 days a year, you've got no excuse! It's gonna be freezing cold and pissing down rain tomorrow, but I'm taking the big Yam for it's first fully legal ride in 4 years after getting it re-registered on Wednesday. I bought new (slightly used) wet weather gear a few weeks ago, and it's almost pleasant riding at warp speed in the rain. Good thing is you don't see any cops out on the road on a wet day here, so speed limits may be exceeded, slightly......... ;D

No need to do 100 miles non stop.  Just get in 100 in a day.  Stop as much as you want

+100 Sean, I'm old and carrying lots of injuries, so I stop quite regularly to get off, stretch, take a pic, take a piss, have a coffee or even a meal. After shovelling and spreading 2 tons of crushed rock road base material on Tuesday I'm still aching all over, so before ride #12 today, I'm gonna borrow one of my wife's prescription anti-inflammatories before I head off, and just stop whenever I need to to rest my bones. Life is a highway.......... (or better still, a series of interesting backroads) ;D
