Eric, that is only 80mph. Pretty typical out there on i94 these days. Although, certainly possible to get a ticket.
I was cruising at 120-140 KPH (75-90 MPH) for most of the day Sean, with quite a few 100 MPH stints when overtaking lines of cars, because most of the roads I ride are single lane with no safe overtaking lanes, so I just give it a handful and spend as little time as possible rocketing towards oncoming traffic. Easy to do on this bike, but not that hard on a 750/4, or any big bike from "back in the day".
When I was 18, I got booked for "Speeds in excess of 180 KPH in a 60 KPH zone" by a cop on a CB750F2 cop bike, when I was on my CB750F0. I couldn't understand why the charge was "Speeds in excess of 180 KPH" until only a few years ago when I bought an old Honda 750 cop speedo, it only went up to 180 KPH (112.5 MPH) because at the time, my speedo was reading 215 KPH (134 MPH) which was probably more a case of an optimistic speedo, than actual speed, all I had on that stock F0 was velocity stacks, an RC 4 into 1, drag bars and a bikini fairing.
He was gonna throw the book at me, but when I told him I was in the Army, he told me that he was a Vietnam vet, and we became best buddies, so he reduced it to 130 in a 100 zone, and I got an 80 dollar fine, which was still a lot of cash in 1978, but a lot better than I'd expected.
