speaking of breather
« on: December 20, 2019, 08:10:46 AM »
couple of months ago i was lookin for firewood, and there was a dishwasher sitting on the curb, and i'm old but not shy about checking some hoses and hose clamps out. so this last time or year workin on the 400 i might of lost a few hoses, some got rock hard so i put a catheter hose on for a breather, it worked great but it was clear. and wouldn't you know it, the dishwasher gave up a few hoses, 2 were the rippley ones that if you blew through it, it'd whistle, and the other was a form fitted hose with 2 sping clamps, and it was black. i had to heat one end to push onto the oil separator. i didn't need the clamps and the form fit exactly the same route as the stock hose (which has got to be running in upwards of $50-75 dollars,) and it was just slightly longer, which made it easier to put on, without stretching it or cutting corners. it has a part number on it. i didn't pay any attention on what brand it was. but that was a good find.

oh, and i found out after 2 days of internet searching and taking 2 carb racks apart to find out why they were different number stamped on em. 105 and 106. both sets of carbs had the same delema. the parts book list them as something like slide A and slide B, and they too had the number 105 and 106, what a coincidence and just short of a miracle, then it dawned on me, that there were those numbers because they were 2 different parts. nearly swept me off my feet. i was all happy i found all that out.
