Hi my name is mark
I live in oak hills ca this is in the upper high desert in so ca .
I love Honda and Yamaha motorcycles I have 3 69-71 ct1 175 one for each year and have a 69 Honda sl90 and just pick up a 1972 CB750 and a 2002 HD
A little bit about myself I have been riding motorcycle all my life. Love riding trail riding enjoying creation.
My first bike was a Suzuki used the I got a brand new in 1969 a Honda SL90 boy did I have fun on that bike went everywhere with it. Got my motorcycle lid on that bike.
Then when I was a teenager working at my uncles restaurant as a busboy one of my coworker comes to work on a brand new 1972 CB750 man was i in love with that bike and I wanted to ride it but he would not let me that was understandable.
I always wanted one but I could not afford one.
Then I got married at age 21 and family came first.

Going forward iam now 65 and I got my CB750.
I have a friend that has a 1972 CB750 that has been in storage in his garage.
I have been talking to him for 2 years about selling that bike he bought it from a guy that bought it and his wife told him to get rid of it so the guy had it for 2 months then my friend bought it he rode it while he was in the navy but he did not ride it much.
It has been in storage since 1982 it has 6,040 on it he finally sold it to me for $500.
Just 2 weeks ago.
When he stored it he emptied the gas tank drained the oil reservoir The  throttle cable seems stuck I will need to clean the carbs.
The bike is brown color there is nothing wrong with the bike it is just dirty from setting in the garage all those years.
I don’t know if I should disassemble the bike and clean the frame and all the parts or if I should just wash the bike.
 I just want to look like it came from the dealer to my home.

Welcome from Texas and congrats on getting your first 750, seems like you've waited a long time!

First off, give the bike a good cleaning [I dont use water]  And spray some lube into the carbs if they are stuck. Are you sure it's not the cables?

Start a thread in the Project Shop area and we can follow along and give advise when needed.

I have not been able to get into the bike yet just twisted the throttle just a bit and it would not move.
But I will check the cable and put some lube on it.
I did spray some glass cleaner on the some of the frame and fender.

Welcome from WI. When these bikes sit for a long time the pistons can get stuck to the cylinders walls. Have you kicked it over with the kick start lever just to be sure it is not locked up? Don't force the throttle to much or you may break the cable. Cleaning the carbs is something you will need to do. And for sure change the oil and filter. I would not be surprised if the front brake gets stuck from sitting so long. Let us know how you come out and post some pics when you get a change. I think you need like 5 posts to be able to load up pics.

I did pull down on the kick stater real gently and the pistons are not stuck.
I forgot to mention that it still has the tools and owners manual and the band for the battery.
He removed the battery b for storing it so it would not cause corrosion to the cables or battery tray.

Next week I will remove tank and put some penetrating oil on the cable to help loosen the throttle cable and may put some oil in the cylinders.

One more bit of advice,  squirt a bit of oil in each cylinder.  It will help the pistons rings to re-seat.

That is in the high desert by Victorville on the way to Vegas.just at the top of the cajon pass
