I hope so.
I have to wait over a month for test. Daylight is ok then, so I have to wait to around 9 or 10pm.
Late September and October will be much darker....

The last November rides  in total darkness on wet roads that made it even worse were not fun nor safe.

The lights appear very bright!  Do you ride much at night?  I avoid it as much as possible, too many deer around here [have hit 3 with my car & truck]

Not much when dark.
The autumn rides  will hopefully be safer in the evening.
See animals in time. We have mostly hares, deers and badgers.

Meeting cars that do not want to switch to Lo will be encouraged by my lamps ;)

I'll see how it will work.
These small bright LED lamps are rather new on the market.

Always great info Per and I like the look of those lights. I used to ride a lot at night (overnight rides from Oxford, UK to Glasgow, Scotland - 7hrs) - was quieter with not much traffic. These days nt so much but occasionaly. We also have deer issues in New England. I have a fairly bright headlight on both the K2 and K4 but your solution is a good one. Looking forward to the review.

I look forward to test the lights. Too cold now and a week more for a ride.
But the evenings are not dark enough.
They fits well and takes only 15W each which match the charging system.

It will be interesting to see how far the light pattern will work. Wider is also welcome.

Waiting for higher temperatures for rides (at least +15C). I have adjusted fork spring pretension and dampening of the rear shocks. Test rides and maybe more adjustments needed.
Hips pain, PITA and handling must be as good as possible.

The 71.25mm pistons earlier used on this bike with 1005cc billet block have got additional holes. ;) Top ring gas ported.

I'm eager to test them. But no plan today when and which engine.

The 970cc it has now work really fine.
Maybe high compression that might be more visible with correct needles (leaner).

Low - middle range  is much better, snappier response when running not that rich as before.

I heard a strange sound after 7000rpm something during a snappy handling of the throttle on 3-4 gear unleashing the fun power yesterday.

I have retarded ignition one pen strike, rotated plate 1mm clockwise at the outer edge.

I'll try and hear if I can repeat it.
If not, ignition back as it was and test again.

If sound comes back with ignition as it was, I'll try some chemistry. Add a little toluene, xylene or similar in the fuel, highest tap octane available here, Shell V-Power.
Or, retard ignition a little if not retarding the fun.

I've heard about very small amount toluene in the gasoline to avoid pinging.

Paint dilution stuff ;D
I really do not want to go for thicker head gasket, increasing chamber volumes  0.962cc with +0.25mm MLS removing the fun.

EDIT:
Why not verify the ignition? ;D ;D

I did and found that I could retard it so F is spot on case mark at idle as usual.
Checked both 1:4 and 2:3.
Too easy to only check 1:4.
(The 1:4 sensor might have been changed/moved.)
Both spot on.

EDIT 2024: Returned to almost as it was, advanced a little. The pinging heard was due to main jets. The shorter Hindle muffler need one step up from 142.5 to 145. The correct leaner needles can be involved too.

Last time setup according to earlier settings marks. Blue pen.
Advancer must have been in in its most clockwise position of its play, ignition set against stock case mark, not to the additional later marking for clockwise position when blue marks were done.

The most clockwise position of advancer used when timing cam. An extra case mark 3mm after done at real TDC.

Green mark at setting today.

#
But engine loved the advanced setting before 7000rpm.

Would be nice with an ignition I can set my own adv curve. As my advancer with cut springs worked when advanced, but a little retard after 6000rpm. If that will be correct. Might be.
Buy an Ignitech ignition with new coils might be something.

Or solve it with real fuel, >102 octane instead of 98+ V-Power.
(Maybe V minus power? )

I have to verify when I touched the ignition last time.
I got a stange +3whp on dyno late October. The advanced setting worked with the rich jetted carbs.

It would be better if gas stations have Diesel, low octane gasoline for low tuned/compression engines and >102 for tuned ones.

No fake additives produced instead of making food.

Nitro is a good additive!
Can be added at the pump, just press a button of % mix.

New rear tire.
Old survived much longer than all other tires I had used this part of this millenium!
8718km!
Rear usually done at 5000 km.
This long life despite 3 dyno visits with 4 WOT runs each time. 104, 107.5 and 107whp that grinded off some rubber.

10.000km must be possible without dyno runs.

Old tire had rubber left for 1000km highway.

Handling was not nice when riding slow in curves. Bike fell down when too quick leaning it.

Tire made in Thailand. Good sh!t !! ;)
Old as well as the new + 3 more I have home in stock. 130/80-18, 4.0-18 and 3.25-19.

Michelin Road Classic, size 130/80-18 on 3" rim.

Does not cost more than other tires either.

My good experience of this tire made me to create this Michelin pile ;)

I like your tire choice, Per: I shall miss the Avons now that they are discontinuing bike tires (so said the news I last heard?). The only thing I hold against these round metric tires as opposed to the older oval designs is how poorly they hold the road when the middle has become flattened. To me, it fells like they just roll under when you're leaned over and crank up the throttle to rise from a deep (mountain) turn? They always seem a little bit "mushy" when you muscle them up from a deep lean-over unless the tire pressures are very high, and then they tend to lose traction for lack of squeeze-action grip.

The tire had ok behavior relatively long. Much longer than my previous tires.

But when tire is flat, slow city riding can be scary when bike suddenly falls down in corners. Be prepared to compensate quickly.

A racer guy can grind the tire sides better, not that flat in the middle ;)

It's always such nice feeling with new tires how easy the bikes leans in corners.

This State of California needs MUCH BETTER 'fuel'?? sold at the pumps.  >:(
A small, vintage high compression motorcycle certainly suffers using the garbage fuel they sell here.

You do not have Shell V-Power?

I changed the ignition after that. It was a little bit too advanced.

They have Shell V-power.. but California's 'mix' of non-gasoline blah stuff..   plus, the highest octane we get here is 91..

Strange, since several go fast parts companies were located in California.
Live closer to another state with better fuel might be something.

I really like Ethanol-Free gasoline;here in Ca. the EPA is 'In Force' to limit many people who enjoy hot rods that want to "harm the environment"..  >:(   I just can't get a hold of any here.
I had driven 150 miles over to Nevada in the past once, just to fill a bunch of 5/gallon fuel cans up with ethanol-free 91 octane Real gasoline. I also filled my car up with a tank full of 87 octane ethanol gasoline(out of state is much stronger:it has more fuel in it than the Ca. crap additives you get at the pump here) and the power of that 87 octane from Nevada made the trip worthwhile.

If you can find good gasoline within bike range. You  can ride your bike to fill it up. Back home and prepare for next ride to good stuff for your bike.

Can be a good reason for rides.  ;)
Biker friendly roads with tasty low cost food.

Bill, best solution is to do same thousands and thousands of other Californians have chosen, move out of California. Beautiful place but screwed up politics and laws and loss of reasonable freedoms and super high cost of living. Why live there with so many negatives?
Everywhere has problems, just nature of life...but you trade one for another sometimes the trade is far worth it.
