CB750K1 Oil Lines

Got the bike in October and still going over and cleaning everything.  Discovered that the mesh covering of the outer oil line, the visible one, is a bit frayed where it curves under the clutch cover.  In an effort to remove it to see if the inner rubber is damaged, I found the female fitting very difficult to loosen.  WD40 doesn't help.  How do you loosen the fitting without deforming or breaking the neck of the tank.

Heat it up , I had one where the paint started cracking on tank from being stuck and trying to break it loose.  I think I ended up just hanging it on the wall .

Is it a common problem that the oil hose rubs against the bottom of the clutch cover.  Not leaking yet, but I assume it will eventually?  I don't know how many layers the hose has.  What was the purpose of the outer mesh fabric?

The mesh protects the rubber.
Drain tank, unbolt hose from engine, heat fitting if needed

Heat it first then apply WD40, never use a steady pull of a wrench, always use a bump bump bump pull on a wrench.
You can go by your electrical supply store and get a large piece of heat shrink tubing to dress it up again and prevent the rub from happening.
Resurrecting a Herman Munster CB750 from a few old baskets of K2 and K7 parts.

Heat from a small propane torch (be careful, move it around the faces of the fitting) will expand it and make it easier. Do it a few times, letting it cool right down. The expanding and contracting usually breaks it free.

That rubber hose is surprisingly thick wall. If there is only a small wear spot, leave it alone. Cut a small chunk of old rad hose and glue it over the wear spot, for 100% protection......
