Frank..... May well be. It must have been gorgeous on day 1. It’s definitely made for this bike, fits the frame perfectly. Next time I see the previous owner, I’ll ask. I know he changed over many years ago, when the race clubs stopped allowing glass tanks.

So today I went to my local Honda dealer to pick up parts. Super, small place, owned by two brothers. It’s closed, but my parts were sitting on the bench, outside when I arrived (they watched me drive in). Next, I went to the Canadian Tire Store. Placed my on-line order yesterday, they picked it and walked it out to me, when I called from the parking lot. Covid responses that are working. Was riding my 2008 Kawasaki KLR650, smiling all the way home. Had a quick lunch, headed off to the shop to. spend the afternoon on the Rickman Project........

As I got down to there, neighbour pulled in with his small stock trailer. “None of the lights are working”. Ended up rewiring virtually the entire thing, took all afternoon. Oh well, maybe tomorrow!

Correct brake pads today and polishing up the original Borrani rear rim. Going to lace it in next. The race bike has Buchanan stainless spokes, so after I polish up the spool hub, it should look better!

Sick of polishing the original, rear Borrani rim, so pulled the yellow front f’glass fender and started prepping for paint. I have three different rattle cans of orange (including a couple of Testor model paints!) and one of them (Armour Coat) that is really close. Too bad it’s so cold out side, got sh*t for stinking up the house and that was just the primer!

The excellent weather means we have a lot to do around the farm (hobby/retirement farm), and my “Boss” has a long list of chores. Truthfully, we are a month ahead of schedule here, but really enjoying being outdoors on our 97 acres. Makes it easy to isolate and stay home. A cautious visit to the post office today was the first time out in two weeks!

In order to keep my shop projects moving along, I’ve always push to have to at least ONE item started or completed every day. Not always possible, but I did manage a light sanding and base coat on the front fender today....... not much, but a little.

Frank..... unreal! Woke up to 2” of snow this morning. 3 km. east of here, nothing! +5C, so it’s all melted now.

Spent the afternoon in the shop. Mounted the orange fender and only a small nick...... Pulled the rear wheel, stripped off the new tire. I want to swap out the DID rim for the original Boranni. The old rim polished up nicely, and it matches the front. Started cleaning up the rear hub, which lead to popping one bearing, caps off and repacked. Everything else seemed good. Now I have to clean and polish 40 spokes! Making progress. Wishing for better weather. Sooner or later I have to build a temporary mount for the side stand so I can take this machine to a ride!

Does it have a rear  footpeg mount hoop on the frame  ? If you can find a hole in the frame , you can make a t stand to hold it up.. I stuck mine in the end of a knurled footage I mounted into stock mount.
I can draw a diagram..  I would stick t stand in my pocket to ride the bike.,

Back in the day, when we were Roadracing and cut off the side stand mounts, we'd use a bolt on kickstand similar to this made by rocky cycles in the 70's when we ended up putting bikes back on the street . 😊

John, Did you happen to see any #'s on those bearings? I've tried to source them by size [11/16 I.D. x 2" O.D.] , and also by application, with no luck. It would be my guess that they may fit some other Brit. application but I don't know what.

Scott...... no, I just cleaned up what was there and repacked one. The Rickman Owners’s have a Facebook page with a pretty international participation. Why not join them and ask the question? I’ll check my files for info.

Ron and Frank...... both good ideas, I think I’ll combine them. I have the “post” and a side stand. The previous owner kept most of the bits they cut off. I think I’ll braze it to a split 1/2 tube so I can move it around with a few hose clamps, until I’m satisfied with the location. Then weld it in place. Probably a few tacks for now, then permanently when I strip it down next winter to have the frame plated again.

Pretty cool, that after all these years, you have all the original tabs that were removed😊

Amazing 😊🙏

I would stay away from clamp on, it scars the frame, and in the end you weld it.
Hose clamps to set it up should be ok.

Frank...... that’s the plan, just to set location and angle. I have a friend whose Dad worked for British Oxygen all his life, as an instructor. The guy brazes like the rest of us walk...... trying to talk him into a “physically distanced” visit.

  Thanks John, good information.
The original stand was attached to a half section of tube, then it attached to the frame, just as you are talking of doing. Maybe you can see in this picture.

Great photo Scott, much appreciated. Here’s a photo of the bits I have. I’ll replicate the original and stick it back where it belongs. Thanks!

This rear wheel is turning into a career! Polished the original rim. After pulling off the DID rim that was on the race bike, had to polish the spool part of the hub. Checking bearings created a side bar. Then the sprocket carrier needed a polish. Now the sprocket looks greasy and filthy.......

Laid everything out, ready to lace in the rim. I think the DID rim was on a set of stainless  Buchanan spokes. Large diameter, look good. Cleaned and polished up one spoke, brushed clean the threads, added a drop of lube they sent me years ago. Sweet! 39 more to go......

By the time I finish lacing and truing this rim, remount the tire, balance and get it back on the bike, I’ll have spent most of the week’s spare time, getting back to where I started.
What do other people do?

This is how I mounted the kickstand to my Seeley. The part is carved out of 5/16 steel, and attaches with the rear engine mount bolt. Since the Seeley was set up to use all the stock Honda parts, including the foot pegs, there is a pin that locks the mount from rotating under the head of the bolt.
BTW, I had one of the clamp-on stands on my '53 BSA, and I couldn't tighten it enough to keep it from folding up with any weight on it.

Front fender with a nice paint match, for now. Ultimately (when a new fairing gets fitted) all the glass will get a fresh coat next winter. Painted a headlight bucket too, not sure I like the extra colour. The black one looks better, and ultimately will disappear in the fairing.

Finished all the hand polishing, including 40 spokes! Went together smoothly until I realized I swapped sides! 20 longer ones go on the sprocket side and I have them switched....... SH*T! Next time.

Got the rear rim built and mounted the tire, yesterday. Balance it up today, and get it back together. Pics later.
