CB400F oil level in case

Is the oil level in a CB400F high enough in the case that it would leak from the shift shaft seal, sitting on the centre-stand?
Bike is in storage, has the correct oil level and has not been started in over two months.

Centre stand probably not, side stand yes

No. And maybe not even on the side stand. Oil level can be seen by holding the dipstick beside the engine at the height and angle it normally sits when checking. The full line shows you the level inside - and it's surprisingly low. Sidestand level at the shifter seal not easy to measure... but you only asked about centre stand. You can take the clutch cover off with oil full, some oil pools at the bottom of the cover and will dribble out but the sump oil level is below the case seal

I want to change the seal, and I was wondering if I should drain some oil out or not. I'm curious as to why I have oil seeping from the shifter seal after not turning the motor over at all for two months.

Because the rubber has gone hard and the oil has "wicked" down the shaft

Just lean the bike right over on its right side safely and you can change the oil seal without draining any oil.
