Brake light switch wiring for front brake
« on: January 09, 2020, 05:06:48 PM »
Can anyone post a photo example of how that should look? Mine works but it's sort of messy coming off the main loom. Any suggestions as far as wrapping beside electrical tape?  Thanks.

There should be 2 wires, mostly coverd in a plasic sleeve that connect to the hydraulic switch
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

vintage fasteners used to sell sleeve material. Or, if you're not going for concours original shrink tubing.

thanks don.  originally when bryan mentioned a sleeve i was imagining a rubber sleeve that also covered the hydraulic switch (sort of like the one at the banjo bolt up by the front brake res) but i see from the cb500 part pic that it's just over the wires.  no concours original here so heat shrink will do the trick.

If you go with heat shrink, put ~1" on each wire at the bullet for support and then leave a good amount of wire exposed before having heat shrink cover both wires back to the harness.  There is a lot of flex in the wires with the head and if you run the heat shrink up close to the bullet connectors, the flex will focus on the wire at the connector and break eventually.

looks a bit better now and have to be more solid connections.

the yellow wiring and #$%* bullet connectors are what were on there before.
