Newbie but old member
« on: June 02, 2018, 07:55:39 AM »
Hi folks! Im Benny Andersen, living in Glasgow Scotland. I have re-inherited my old CB650 1980/1 from the friend I gave it to many years ago. He wanted to move on and did not know what to do, so I got it back. I was a member of the SOHC/4 Owners Club back in the early 2000's, and have rejoined as I need some help with repairs to do on the bike. The head needs to come off as I have oil burning in cyl 1, a valve stem oil seal issue I think. Also some of the cam cover bolts are threaded/stripped so these will have to go to an engineering shop for repair.
Anyway, its nice to be back.

Welcome back Benny.  Is the bike a Standard vs a Custom?  Would like me to add you to the 650 Owners List?
Now  1972 CB350FX (experimental v2.0)
        1981 CB650c Custom with '79 engine (wifes)
        1981 CB650 engine
        2004 HD XL883C Custom
        1977 Yamaha XS750D (in progress)
Then 1972 CL175
        1964 Yamaha YGS-1T

She’s a bit of both Standard and Custom. I bought her from an importer in Matlock Derbyshire who sent me enough bits to make one good bike out of a pallet loaded with bits. Some were 1980 and others 1981, some standard and some custom as you will see from the photo. She’s always been a lovely bike to ride but I’m now having issues with the breather pipes around the carbs, perishing, leaking, bits missing. Any help would be appreciated
