I do more searching and reading than I do posting but I just wanted to say thanks to everybody who posts out there because it has been a great help to me in getting my 71 cb500 back on the road. I'm no stranger to motorcycle mechanics but the information that I have been able to get here specific to my model has been big big help thanks everybody.

nice paint. where did you find it? is it a custom made paint, or available regular retail?
looks a lot like planet blue metallic.

That's a Rust-Oleum blue metal flake spray paint from Walmart and Krylon black with a can of 2K clear over the top of it. A $30 garage paint job.

Nice job!  What all did you have to do to restore the bike and get her on the road?

Rebuilt forks, tires, tubes, rear rim and spokes, dynabeads, rebuilt caliper, new pads, replaced master cylinder and hoses,  new bars, cables, levers, halogen headlight, led bulbs, valve job, rebuilt carbs, added pods, dyna ignition, eBay coils with relay to push 12 volts to coils, sealed the tank, new petcock, shift shaft seal, swanky windshield 😉,  new rear shocks, paint. I still need to replace the rear shoes and add lowering blocks to Make getting on and off easier (hip replacement).
All that over the last 18 months and now it's cold and raining in Daytona Beach!

Thank you. And another big shout out to all the posters who helped me out on the journey. Now I need to get my knees in the wind as soon as the weather warms up here in Daytona.

Bike looks great! I took the other route, and "chopped up" my 9,300 mile K0...
I'm on the home stretch, but still have a few nagging issues - Carb (pods installed, midrange is choppy, idle is fine), forks (after rebuilding, feels like they have too much oil even though i followed the manual). Other than that, love the bike!

Nice work. I'll bet she sounds nice with those shorty mufflers, they can hear you if they can't see you!
My pod/drilled Mac exhaust setup smoothed out with #38 slows and #100 mains, air screws at 1 turn +- 1/8, synched the carbs. I'm right at sea level. I fought with a few sets of knock off jets before breaking down and buying jets from JetsRus.com, pricey but they worked out well. No more mid range stuttering.
My forks seem stiff too. Stock springs. I used the listed 30W oil weight/amount when rebuilding. Thinking of some lighter weight oil in the future. I'm happy to be out riding for now.
