Topic: Ignition Timing Problems

Hi Guys, Thought I would ask for some technical help. CB750K6 I have totally rebuilt this from the ground up.
Now I have been trying to time the ignition. Set the gaps at 14 thou.
1/4 - If I rotate the back plate to open at the F point its waaay out of position and can only get one securing bolt on [top one] the other holes are covered by the plate - see the picture.
If i set the plate with all three bolts and at best position its firing at the 1/4 marking before the F and T.
Now it runs in both positions but better at the 1/4 mark.
Have I got the camshaft timing wrong?
Can the camshaft be altered with the engine in the frame if its wrong?

No the camshaft has no bearing on the ignition timing. Are you using the correct points try a 12 thou gap. did you dismantle the advance and retard mechanism is the advancer fitted correctly on the crankshaft there is a locating pin is that present.
