My igniters have a puddle of gunk under them.
It appears the potting material is melting.
Any ideas on the cause?

I have not seen a set that has not done that. I think it is just the material that Honda used.

Yeah, when I stand still in one spot too long, gunk gathers under me, too.

My 650 igniters were like that, filled them back up with some epoxy mix, just to keep out the dirt and small children out, 10 or so years later, still going strong.

I’d try what Scunny said but the 650 igniters are known for this. They overheat and then melt. If you’re interested, I make a kit to fit the Dyna S. Comes with a new plate and I machine down your rotor.

Need a full oil pump o-ring kit for your 650?
Want to use a Dyna S ignition on your 650?
