best retailer for LARGE order - in USA
« on: January 29, 2020, 12:23:06 PM »
I'm about to make a large order, basically everything needed for a total engine rebuild as well as some other parts. This is for a 400. I was planning on using CMSNL since their website is what I used to find all the part numbers in the first place. I was just wondering if anyone knows of a better place in the US to order from that will have the same selection.

I don't know if it's just me but the DSS website is really hard to navigate. I've only ever ordered one part from there.

Thanks!

I've had good service from Partzilla and South Sound Honda for CB750 parts.

JT Marks. I'm sure someone here has his email address. He can find or has about anything, gets orders from Yamiya often. Sometimes can offer a choice of used, NOS, repro, or from Honda.  Shipping is reasonable and on time.

RE:  JT Marks

Are his prices good? I'm looking for new or NOS parts only, as they're going inside the engine. I mainly need the consumables.

I think that ordering through CMSNL with the conversion USD to Pounds and shipping overseas is going to be more expensive.

I've also bought several parts from him and he is about as cheap as it gets. He told me that he usually tries to price below what Partzilla might ask. If I see something he's selling on eBay, he will sell it for less if your contact outside eBay because he doesn't pay fees.

Try South Sound Hpnda. Good prices, $25 handling charge on orders under $200 (it might be more than that $200 now). I order from them almost every month.

In Olympia? That's near me. I'm in Seattle. Yeah the order is like $450 right now and I probably am missing stuff still. I just checked a random item on the ir site and it was less than CMSNL! Looks like they only carry genuine parts tho so discontinued stuff like the primary chain isn't available.

I haven't found anyone who will routinely beat South Sound Honda's prices for OEM parts.  I've used them a lot over the years.  Their shipping can be a little steep for small parts.  And they are not particularly fast getting the parts to you.  So what I've been doing lately is checking availability and price on their site, then call the local Honda dealer.  I give them the part number and SSH's price, tell them I'd rather buy from them and ask how close they are willing to come to it.  They usually do well enough to offset the shipping and the sales tax.  And they are still making money.

DSS has more parts than they show for each model.
Search on their site"s part no function and find more.

I usually find part no at CMSNL.

Some parts are cheaper at DSS, others not.
I have only ordered from their UK site.

Some parts if missing  can be used found on eBay, no need to order new.

Yamiya.750.com in Japan has also 400 parts.

David Silvers is a well known CB400 guru. At one time he was buying them up whole all over the USA. Seems he would be the go to guy for that kind of stuff unless he used it allup doing his resto's.

If your order is that large, give yourself some options. I've ordered parts from 4 into 1, Ohio Cycle, Western Hills Honda, Partzilla, Ebay and members here on the forum. It takes time to research and in the end, worth all the effort.  Good luck

starting my order at SSH. Just wondering, is it normal for some of these O rings to be like $3.50 and up? These are for the oil pump and just happen to be at the top of the list. I'm just starting the order.

This is the go to kit to rebuild your oil pump . He also stocks the screen .    Enjoy your build  ( yes i agree with the other poster , search around for different vendors and check feedbacks & prices  ) This kit is an example . Most of the "regular " vendors do not offer a kit like this .

You can find most of the o- rings here for less if order in higher numbers. Mostly Viton 75.
Honda use Nitrile which is cheaper.

Same o-rings 15 x 2.5 for oil hoses too.

jesus christ shipping is $25! and that's just for a bunch O rings. That totally negates any savings over CMSNL.

edit: spoke too soon, their prices are much better on a few items I need a lot of, like damper rubbers and crush washers. So crazy how 10 washers can cost $30.. I didn't even finish comaring with DSS because it exceeded the price of SSH with shipping while I was only 3/4 the way through the list.

So SSH is really the best on price. However they don't carry any aftermarket parts so I will go elsewhere for those.

Does anyone know a part number for grey honda bond?

Sourced these parts from 400bits UK. Thanks!

Also found out the O ring is superceded by a new number and is still available.
