Sunday Quiz II
« on: February 09, 2020, 11:28:49 AM »
This part is only used for one model year of cb750K. What is it? What year? Why?

I believe it was the 77' K model front left motor mount. As for why... why not?  ;D

Madmtnmotors........ Correct! Both questions. Why would Honda make that upper front motor mount a removable bracket ONLY in 1977?? In 1978, they reverted to the solid lug. There must be a reason?

Changes like that are usually related to production costs and tme studies.  The removable engine mount was maybe tried to reduce cost/time of frame production, but it was found to be more costly in in terms of labor time to install and production costs to produce two stampings verses one lug.
Just guessing.

Kerry......that’s the best guess by far. Still very weird. So few changes by Honda ever reverted back to the original version..........

this was a discussion awhile back. The even weirder thing is that the part cant be ordered, its not in the parts fiche. The frame picture has the welded bracket

My guess is a parts shortage...but really, there are probably dozens of these kind of parts change anomalies and I still don't care much for or about the K7's.
If it works good, it looks good...
