Fork Brace for CB500K?
« on: March 11, 2020, 05:44:54 PM »
I'm looking for a fork brace for my '72 CB500 (should be the same as a CB550). I bought the Tarozzi one from Dime City Cycles, but it didn't even come close to fitting the bike (Didn't fit the forks, or the fork boots, touched the top of the tire).

Anyone know of a fork brace for CB500 / 550K that *actually fits*? I'd prefer not to have to make my own...

Are you not running a front fender? It has the brace built in. If not, get an old fender and cut out just the brace portion.
Are you sure the Tarozzi brace was the correct one? I used one on a custom bike and it fit great.

i know that for the 550s, the length of the fork legs changed. the tarozzi only fits the later models with the taller fork legs, not the earlier ones. i'm not sure about the 550 but it would make sense if it had also shorter legs like the early 550s.

when i looked, i could not find a commercially made fork brace for my 550f1. eventually i had one made to my measurements by tkat: http://www.tkat.com/forkbrace.html
i can look up the specs and share them with you if that's of any help.

there is, indeed, a brace built into the front fender but an additional one does help to steady the fork which on its own, is somewhat flimsy.

I'm running an aftermarket fender. It doesn't seem to have any special reinforcement between the forks, but it is pretty sturdy.

I know that I ordered the correct one, but the one I received definitely did NOT fit. So maybe the one they shipped me was not the correct one. There was a label on the box where the Tarozzi model number should be, but it was blank.
