Nice find! I am a huge fan of the valley green! Here is mine when I got her home from the original owners garage.

Will a K2 seat fit on my bike? I have the latch that I can transfer over to the seat. Thanks

One year seat profile, but 72-76 will fit with some mods to the latch.

Very Nice!

Is the mod just a straight swap of the lock to latch? Or the mounting holes need to be drilled? Thanks

Thank you. Very informative site. My son and I are going to study it :D

Here's the correct seat for the K1, it's a NOS one fitted to my US spec 71 survivor (the original is in the loft):

Edit: PS - the headlight and brackets were removed when the pic was taken last summer.

Very nice! I managed to get a new reproduction seat for a K2 that I am going to use in the meantime.

On another matter, my carbs are coming back in the next few days :D

UPDATE: She's Running! 1971 CB750 sat since the 80s. ADVICE needed

Got the rebuilt carbs installed, oil and oil filter change, dropped the oil pan and cleaned out the oil sludge in the bottom. Vinegar soaked the gas tank(5 days) and cleaned out with baking soda, add Marvel Mystery Oil filled with fresh gas. Replaced the air filter and installed a new battery ($39 AGM from Battery Shark). Left the old plugs in(will replace with D8EA after starting and running) and she fired up after 3 cranks with no choke. No strange noise, just purring at about 1200rpm. The 4 into 1 exhaust sounded good but very loud. I will be doing the oil and oil filter change after running it a few more times(5 - 10 minutes idling each time).

Now I am working on other parts of the bike and need your advice.

I am going to swap out the chopper-style handlebar and install a stock reproduction handlebar from 4into1.com. I will need to swap out all the cables as they are going to be too long. My question is for the brake line(s) - which brake line should I use? Honda genuine 2 lines setup with a hard pipe to follow what's on the bike? Or single line with a hard pipe and forget about the connecting block? Or go with stainless braided brake line(s)? Should I reuse the hard pipe?

Thanks

Honda parts are high quality, I have used others that are good (no china parts !).
Many times rigid line is rusty, if yours is nice reuse it.

Got it. The hard pipe on the Valley Green is in fairly decent shape so I think I will reuse it but I will get the complete set for the JDM. I was eyeing their control cables set too. It is not hard to hit their $200 free shipping limit buying for 2 bikes  ;D :'(

How do you clean the 3 way joint before installing the new hoses? Just compressed air with some brake cleaner?

Thanks

Here's how she is now, still working on rebuilding the original master cylinder, forks/brake carrier, seat and rear wheel. But with the 71 JDM K1 waiting to be assembled, we may just ride this one as is and concentrate on getting the JDM K1 running.

PS The black gas tank is from the JDM. The Valley Green gas tank was having a spa week soaking with white vinegar
