No bushings, No problem!! Stalling woes, FIX
« on: February 07, 2020, 10:39:33 AM »
I have had some issues with my 78 Cb 550 stalling out coming to a stop, after the bike has been out riding around for 30min.  I’m assuming a vacuum leak.  Which led me to this video So I took a look at my carbs and sure enough the felt bushings are not present.  So I made my own bushings in my shop.  I made 4, 0.125” thick brass bushings with a 0.100” depth recess to hold  springs in place between the two bushings against O rings opposite of each other on the choke rod. The spring is 0.300” OD with 0.032” thick stainless steel wire, 1.25” length, 6lb spring tension.  I have not had the bike out on the street yet since Ohio likes to bring snow and cold weather.  Along with numerous projects on the bike that I need to complete for spring riding.  Hope this cures the air/vacuum leak on the carbs and hope this may help other riders.
