Damn...
« on: February 07, 2007, 02:54:19 PM »
Got diagnosed with a bad case of bacterial pneumonia today  :-[
Well, at least it explains why I´m coffing my lungs out everytime I move, and why my body temp is "slightly" above normal....  ::)
Antibiotics, here I come.
I do not have the time to be sick, I need to get to work as stuff is piling up there.
Also need to work on the bikes, but right now I can´t do #$%*.

Doctors orders is to stay at home and rest it out at least over the weekend.

What would you do?

Cheers
Dan

Find a large bottle of INNER CIRCLE RUM (full), a very good looking BLONDE (female) who can cook and make soup, and who knows how to read bedtime stories (plus likes playing Twister).

Don't laugh too much IT HURTS - been through the same thing once - do not want to have that again. :D

Follow doc's orders as much as possible.  Pneumonias have a funny way of lingering, or getting worse.  Either way, you lose more time in the end than if you just baby yourself for a few days now.  If the doc prescribed antibiotics, take the FULL COURSE, even though you're likely to feel better sooner.  Otherwise, lingering bacteria may reinfect you, and you're worse off.  Stay well hydrated, and well nourished.  Your body needs energy to fight infection.

Get well soon!

Buy a weeks worth of food, rent some movies, set up a mirror next to the TV so i could watch my fat ass get even fatter.
Every single time I've tried to get macho while I'm supposed to be healing, I make it worse.  Every time.
Dude- your 8 layers are showing!

Hehe, I never dance sober. Actually I never dance sober enough to remember it....
As for smoking I won´t even touch it with a bargepole.

Great, now I have something to blame other than me being in bad shape...
Damn those motorcyclists for polluting everthing and f*#"ing up the weather enough to give me pneumonia! Damn them....  >:(

On the other hand it´s -32 degrees Celsius outside right now. Wouldn´t mind some global warming right now, so...

I had pneumonia about 15 years ago.  It came out of nowhere and kicked my ass.  Naturally I put off going to the doctor.  I was getting worse every day, so my wife made me go finally.  The doctor told me if I had waited a few more hours I'd have been in the hospital on oxygen.  After all was said and done, I thoroughly understood why pneumonia is such a killer.  I believe wihout the antibiotics I would have been a goner.  I'll echo the suggestions made above.  Follow the doc's orders and take it easy.

You know what I hate about doctors? They're always right ;)  Especially the bit about the antibiotics.

Before you come back telling me off doc, I already know what doctors hate about patients. You put in all those years at med school, and them damned fool patients always think the know better ::)

Do what you are told. My uncle had it linger and it only took about four months before the infection declared open season and killed him. I miss him a great deal. Take care of yourself! It is important.

I would read and make a list of all the things you need want and wish to do. And marvel at the GARBAGE they put on television. ;D

I will certainly go though the antibiotics session, that has never been a question. Will also follow the doctors order on resting and taking it easy.
Guess I am just a bit frustrated as I´ve been more or less ill since New Years eve....
Really gets to me...
Work suffers, hobbies suffers, social life suffers.
Basically it sucks.

On the other hand, it wont kill me, work will still be there, the bikes are going nowhere and hopefully my friends will stay too  :)
And everyday that passes is one day closer to summer  8)

Life is good!

Cheers

Rest, fluids, and take all the antibiotic. If it were a throat infection or sinus infection it would be a different story. Don't mess with pneumonia! If it were me I'd kick back for at least 3 days and get my rest. After 3 days, whatever you might feel like. Listen to your body and don't do more than it wants you too.

What would you do?

Browse over to sohc4.us and count how many days, hours, and minutes you've been logged in...
Read a book.  Shut OFF the television.  Take a nap.
And take your drugs.  Say yes to drugs.  (I'm a pharmacist too.  Keep me employed)

Yeah, the second one always takes less time than the first. It would be done in a couple of hours  :D

On a more serious note, I´m getting better by the hour. The pills are working....

        Daniel,

Just came upon this one. Sorry that your down for the time being. :( God willing . you'll be up and about in no time. I fully understand your situation. Never had pneumonia myself. I have had a few rounds with the flu over the years and having asthma doesn't help. Sounds like you're taking care of yourself and that's good to hear. We need you back in shape, to lend your advice and spread your humor. ;) You take care and I'll catch you later on, Bill :) ;)
