1975 750 k5
« on: January 26, 2020, 06:40:20 AM »
New to the site.   Just picked up a 75 750 k5 from the original owner sitting since 91
Pulled the carbs off last night and yes the gas has carmelized and the gas in the tank looks like gold crude.   Working thru that....does anyone have a source for intake manifolds?  Or any other web sites

Thanks for your help in advance.

Yamiya

Both have good supplies of parts and the parts are generally high quality. Don't get cheap ones.

I've had some luck with lacquer thinner melting amber fuel from a gas tank. It will damage paint if you get sloppy.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

I buy them from South Sound Honda, best prices and good delivery. They did start a $25 "handling" charge last year, so you need to buy enough stuff to make up the difference with their lower prices to come out well: in this case I would recommend getting both the 4 rubber hoses (2 of 2 different types) and a new set of carb-top linkage boots, as yours are likely cracked and broken by now. This will leave you about $4 "ahead" overall, based on the shopping I have done there.

Any tips on where to get aftermarket needle jet holders?      Looking for something cheaper than the Hondas.     I cannot Screw off the main 105 jet off all 4 of these.
Thanks

The needle jet goes in first then the main jet holders (with main jet)
Use vise if jet is stuck in holder.

There is 1 very good reason Honda carb parts are more expensive that the cheap china crap.

Trust me, you dont wanna try to save a few bucks by going that route...

These guys are right!  ^^^
You will be much happier with the OEM jets, emulsifiers, and needles. They actually work...and when you reach about 105,000 miles, pull the main needle jets out and turn them 180 degrees and reinstall: they will have become slightly oval by then, but this makes them work like new again. ;)

Need float pins.    Any suggestions?

Also when I took out the needle jet holder I did not see the needle jet.   If it is still in the carb any thoughts how to punch this out.

Thanks for your help!

Try to push out with finger, else use plastic end of screw driver and tap gently.

Everything is out back and cleaned.    Replacing the gas lines.

Does anyone know the correct gas line size?

Also,   any tips on setting the floats?

Thanks

Check the forum's manuals and tech docs section. Plenty of good info there, including a service manual.
