1983 DOHC cb650 oil cooler adaptor plate to a SOHC cb750?
« on: March 15, 2020, 05:37:04 PM »
Does anybody know off-hand if the 1980's DOHC CB650 oil cooler adaptor plate will fit on a SOHC cb750 engine?

They use the same size o-rings: https://www.hondapartshouse.com/oemparts/a/hon/5053ff04f870021c54bead01/oil-cooler-oil-pipe

I know that on the 550 you have to grind away some of the cooling fins on the lower engine case.
The boss in the middle of the adapter plate (where the bolt passes through) was a different size than on the 550 case. I had it machined to slip over, but didn't go quite deep enough to make it fit flush. Ended up selling it before I ever used it.

So...I would say it can be made to fit with minor work. You need the longer oil filter bolt.
