Motoscope wiring questions
« on: March 07, 2020, 02:28:43 PM »
I'm making up the 6-pin and 9-pin connectors for my Motoscope tacho and have a couple of questions.

All the colors below are the Motogadget colors, not Honda colors unless specified.

The 9-pin connector has a customisable wire and associated earth (white/yellow & white/green). The manual says this can be used for an oil pressure light, but the white wire already does that. Am I missing something, or does this give me two oil warning lights? I was planning to connect the white wire up to the Honda Blue/Red stripe.

If I don't need the customisable wires for oil pressure, are they useful for anything else?

The 6-pin connector has a yellow wire for RPM signal. I'm using a Dyna S ignition and would appreciate advice on where this connects?

Finally, the neutral and oil pressure wires coming from the stator harness are pretty solid, maybe 18AWG. I'm assuming that unlike the charging wires they don't carry any significant current and can be reduced down to fit the gauge crimps?

Thanks in advance.

If I don't need the customisable wires for oil pressure, are they useful for anything else? Not unless you are adding sensors for TEMP

The 6-pin connector has a yellow wire for RPM signal. I'm using a Dyna S ignition and would appreciate advice on where this connects? The 6-pin YELLOW connects to either coil to take the RPM input

Finally, the neutral and oil pressure wires coming from the stator harness are pretty solid, maybe 18AWG. I'm assuming that unlike the charging wires they don't carry any significant current and can be reduced down to fit the gauge crimps? Yep, they are essentially a GROUND circuit.

Thanks in advance.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of it's victim may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S. Lewis
