CB350 twin with cable-mounted front brake light switch
« on: February 08, 2007, 10:14:29 AM »
My 1970 cb350 twin has front drum brakes, and the cable that operates the front brakes has a switch mounted partway down the cable, to activate the brake light. I want to replace the cable. I see lots of replacement cables for cb350s available on ebay, and not one of them has this switch mounted on the brake cable.

Did Honda use a different system to activate the brake light on later cb350 twins, and is it easily adaptable to my earlier model?

My CB350 K4 has a switch mounted in the brake lever housing. I just bought it a couple of weeks ago (OEM) for my restoration, it was about 10 euros.

I guess I could switch to that sort of brake lever housing if I can't find the proper cable, or I could probably cut a cable sheath and manage to install my old switch on a new cable.  With that thought in mind, last night I started practicing casting the end onto a cable. I need to carve a better mold and try again tonight.

Ouch is right!  I just paid less than that for three entire SETS of Brake, throttle and clutch cables!  I think I'll give my cable building skills a try!

Dude, That's not really that bad a price considering that you are going to have to remove/replace your switchgear housing to use the other type of switch or go to a lotta work to MFG one from your broke one. And you still have to buy a cable to do the swap. A black generic replacement w/out the switch has gotta be near $30 from MOTION PRO?
And It's grey, not black!!!
Buy it while you can get it, it'll last another 30 years ::)
