K1 is on the road again
« on: March 11, 2020, 07:24:55 AM »
I just wanted to thank this forum for assisting me in getting my '71 750 back in action. Owning for 45 years, and burning piston #3 last May; I relied on many of you; since i have been outta the loop, since my 836 rebuild back in '81. ... So thanks again to Mike Rieck, Ken from Cycle X, Hondaman, dragracer Frank, PeWe, Dennis, Jerry, Bill Benton, Scottly, Wilbur, Rocket Rex, Butch and many others whose posts have revived my knowledge, and capacity to get that 50 year-old, orange metal flake back on the roads of Jersey.   103 miles, and so far- so good.

Thanks guys! I didn't do a project thread; but i did take some photos for documenting purposes. I'm just not the I.T. junkie, who wants to take the time to learn about sending or attaching photos. Perhaps I'll give it a shot. Although, it ain't nuthin' you guys haven't seen before!   Including the orange metal flake.
I am hoping to see an increase in my oil pressure after my next oil change at 500 miles. Idles around 40 psi. Around 45-50 at 5000 rpm. Replaced my AMSOIL break-in oil at 67 miles, with AMSOIL 10-40; and have same scenario. New crank + rods were fitted with 'green' bearings; and plastigauged near upper clearance limits. Cycle X gauge is mounted on galley, above points cover. I may try to shim the spring on my refurbished pump.

Thanks again. I'ts never been much of a 'looker'.  Although, it would draw some attention in the early '80's, following the 836 rebirth; as i enjoyed saving front tire tread, by riding on the back tire a lot.

My 836 spent a lot of time on the 1 wheel also...back in the late 70s and early 80s. I bought it new and sold it in 1983. Wishing I could have kept it now for sure.
Congrats on the rebuild.
I'm in the works of another rebuild on what was originally my brothers 76 that looked like mine.

Cody's seat unbolted easily to facilitate the girlfriend to get a ride.
