Hoping someone can confirm for me:

Is the oil filter case on a CB750F2/F3 interchangeable with the one for a CB750K?
There are two different part numbers shown at servicehonda.com:

CB750K
15411-300-010

CB750F
15411-410-000

However the parts look identical.

What I gather the difference is that Honda added a "cooler" between the engine case and the oil filter case on the CB750F2/F3, which necessitated a longer bolt and a small "collar" that slides on that bolt.

I'm working through a new (to me) K2, but discovered it has the F2/F3 oil filter assembly - however PO apparently discarded that collar.  I either need to find a new collar, or discard the "cooler" and get a shorter K-style bolt.

Question is - if I do that, can I truly just keep the outer oil filter case, or should I replace that, too?

And, sideline question - can anyone tell me what the length of that F2/F3 collar actually is?

Any opinions on this?  Hoping someone can confirm the F2/3 oil filter cap and a K-style oil filter cap truly are interchangeable.

I believe that the filter case is identical for all SOHC4's. If the oil cooler base is missing you should be able to use the stock housing with a K style bolt.

Thank you.

I've got a short bolt on the way, I'm going to try. Without going out and looking at it right now, it strikes me that, when you use the F2/F3 oil "cooler", you also have to rotate the filter cover 180 degrees, for the "alignment" tabs on the fins to match up.  But I'll double check that later this week when I go work on it again.

Got the short bolt in this evening. Tomorrow night I’ll be over there and I’ll swap them and get the measurements of both.
