Oil Filter Cover?
« on: March 13, 2020, 01:34:10 AM »
Does anyone know if the oil filter housing on a 750 was originally painted or polished?
Thanks

Side question, ekpent... when you say that are you referring to the additional finned "plate" or "spacer" (BASE, OIL FILTER, part# 15416-410-000  https://www.cmsnl.com/honda-cb750f2-750-super-sport-1977-usa_model491/base-oil-filter_15416410000/#.XmuiSahKiUk ) that is sandwiched between the case and the oil filter cover... or do you mean that the oil filter cover itself has additional fins?  This goes to something I'm trying to figure on out my bike, which is a bit of a frankenstein... in that it's a K2, but has the F-style oil filter cover.  I've read that the oil filter covers themselves are the same, but they have different part numbers when you compare parts fiche from the Ks to the Fs.

The housings are all the same size. The 77-78 750F housings are painted black and the '69 sandcast housing is smooth (no fins).

Assumed OP has a K model by looking at his forum name

And yet I have a K that has an F housing. So it’s potentially relevant.
