Throttle cable routing for '72 CB500?
« on: March 11, 2020, 06:59:54 PM »
I had the carbs off for a rebuild, and when I put them back on my throttle cables are completely out of whack. I can't adjust them properly to save my life. I'm wondering if I'm routing them funny or something (since I foolishly didn't take pictures beforehand).

Anyone know where I can find a routing diagram for the throttle cables? I don't see anything in the owner's manual...

Related question: Why do I even have a "return" cable for the throttle? The main spring on the carbs seems to do a fine job of returning the throttle as-is. Is this just a safety feature or something?

Bumping this. I'd like to put the tank back on, but I'm not sure my cables are routed correctly  :(

Would be great if someone could point me at the relevant diagram or something...

Thank you! This is exactly what I'm looking for. Didn't know to look in the "wiring diagram" section.

Whoops. Actually, that's the diagram for a CB550. The clutch is on the "wrong" side. Is there a similar diagram for the CB500, showing the routing of the clutch cable as well?
