Cylinder block part id problem
« on: March 13, 2020, 06:50:14 AM »
Hello all. I have a 74 CB550.  Can someone tell me what this part is called. Its part number 6 on the engine diagram but the name is not listed on any diagram I can find. The other side is missing. Hopefully its not in my engine case. Thanks for any help.

Its not just a dowel its an oil restrictor jet as well and not that easy to get now BUT its the same on all 500/550 so more scope for used.
Do make sure that nobits go down the hole and the jet is clear or you will need a new head and cam

Thanks. I found one on ebay for 15. It seemed to be missing when I pulled the cylinder head off but the rubber seals were there. Could it run without it? I bought the bike years ago and could never get it going with a basic tune up.  Hopefully it didnt fall out into the bottom end when I lifted the cylinder head off.

It would run but oil pressure to mains and ends would be low
