New Purchase!
« on: February 10, 2007, 10:08:51 AM »
Hey All,

I just picked up a 1981 CB900 Custom, I know it's not a SOHC but it was a good deal so I couldn't pass it up. :)

It's a second owner bike(owned it since 1984) has 41,000km (25,500miles), shaft drive, air assisted shocks, windshield, luggage rack etc.  The engine was completely rebuilt at 35,000km and the deal comes with a complete parts bike.

I was looking for quite some time for an affordable bike to tour around on, this bike fits the bill.

But now, I don't have room for 2 bikes so my brother will ride my 72 CB500.  I'll have the best of both worlds since I'll still be able to ride my 500 once in a while, that is until I get a garage  ;D

Check out my new (old) bike !, click on the link below and scroll down to see the pictures. The last picture is the best one.

Always loved that bike, especially it's funky 10 speed transmission... ;D  Enjoy it.

That is one nice bike! I'm sitting here drooling. I love the custom styling (not too extreme though) which is why I fell in love with my CX.

One of the guys at UNM Hospital where I park my bike has one.  He is happy as can be on his daily commutes and weekend rides.  Use it in good health!

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the comments.

Yeah, it does have the dual range transmission, 5 low, 5 high.  I'm still getting my head around that one, why Honda would do that.  I know at highway speeds, the high gearing acts as an overdrive dropping the rpm's substantially.  At the same time, in low gear around town, makes the bike perform better.

I know the bike was fast for it's time, just under 12 second Quarter mile.  It should be a fun bike to ride.

Now for spring to come  :'(
