If you don't wanna buy it- Beat it! COVID-19
« on: March 15, 2020, 01:01:32 AM »
The very serious virus pandemy that will affect us all in bad ways  seems to be possible to prepare for.
http://www.orthomolecular.org/resources/omns/v16n17.shtml

This link where vitamin C in higher doses before being exposed to the virus has been used in China and South Korea with good result.

People did not get the "Wuhan flu" even if a family member was infected.

3 grams of vitamin C/ day.
Vitamin C can also be purchased as Ascorbic acid in grocery stores. Cheaper than flavoured tabs to disolve in water. 1/2 teaspoon direct in mouth followed vy 1/2 glass of water 3 times per day.

Good idea after food to not get too sour internals , reflux . Youghurt  or a banana will help if too sour.

Let's beat that sh!t forcing us to stay in our garages with minimum contact with others.

We want to ride our bikes, visit restaurants, cafes, race events,  events in general and contact with other people !!

Businesses close downs and closing entire countries that happens now.

Much restricted for a time, maybe the entire 2020 :(

I hope none of the SOHC community to become a victim of COVID-19  made in low quality country not named here.

I'd like to beat some sense into our state gov'nor.

Washington state restaurants, bars, entertainment venues, and recreational facilities are being forced to shutter down by the various people in charge.

I should be posting in the pissed off thread because this numbskull just cost myself and thousands of others their incomes.

Tragically, 42 have died with covid 19 in Washington state.  The majority of cases here are in King and Snohomish counties.

So now the fine service workers of king county have to not only avoid getting sick.  But also avoid going homeless.
While the rest of the states workforce has to stare down the barrel of economic uncertainty and searching for new work in the middle of crises conditions.

Update.
Found another link where recommendation is 50-100mg per kg bodyweight.
https://greenbeltoutdoors.com/blogs/survival-blog/high-doses-of-vitamin-c-to-cure-coronavirus

Shanghai Medical Association recommends high-dose vitamin C for treatment of coronavirus
In a further development, the Shanghai Medical Association (SMA) in China has published a consensus on the comprehensive treatment of coronavirus disease. Based on the study of more than 300 clinical patients and developed by 30 experts in the treatment of new coronavirus pneumonia, it recommends high-dose vitamin C for even light infection with the virus.

The dose recommended in the consensus is 50 to 100 mg per kilogram of bodyweight per day. For severe and critically ill patients, up to 200 mg per kilogram of bodyweight per day is advised, injected intravenously. Described as the ‘Shanghai Plan’, the SMA says its consensus has attracted widespread attention, including on Shanghai TV.

 I'll go for 5grams/day. 87kg CB750 biker!
Ascorbic acid is very cheap as powder. As Vitamin C pills, tabs etc expensive.

Remember that the seasonal flu always kills thousands of people.
Search for old threads describing it.
Here is one https://www.cdc.gov/media/releases/2017/p1213-flu-death-estimate.html

According to new estimates published today, between 291,000 and 646,000 people worldwide die from seasonal influenza-related respiratory illnesses each year, higher than a previous estimate of 250,000 to 500,000 and based on a robust, multinational survey.

So we are not close to that yet with our new friend, the Wuhan strangler!  :o
New threads written 2020 might not always be trusted since they can include adapted news to avoid panic.

Doctors without needed hardware as respirator face masks, gloves, testers and hygienic stuff.
No news since a Pandemic flu has been discussed the last 15 years.
This is long time for planning and purchase of equipment and temporarily infection buildings placed on strategic locations.

It is possible to rebuild 40' and 20' containers to field hospitals and apartments for sick/quarantine. Easy to transport and stack on top of each other.

Gotta be careful when going to Many sites that claim to have information about the COVID-19/SAR-CoV-2
are full of MALWARE.
So, keep you computer anti-virus up to date and keep your computers and mobile devices healthy too!  Especially your phone as they have tons of sensitive data on them, far more than you realize I will bet. They are a Huge Target today of hackers.

Stay healthy, exercise for your health and for stress relief as well as general health benefits.  AND wash your hands frequently...learn the proper way to use hand sanitizer if you are using it..you must rub it into your hands until it has dried completely. You still need to use soap and  water to wash your hands completely and thoroughly, it is much preferred over hand sanitizer. After so many, I forget the number of times after using sanitizer you should wash your hands. Hand sanitizer with 60% alcohol is OK if you cannot get to clean water and soap.
Don't panic and if you get COVID-19 don't panic.
Stay calm, wash your hands!

I read that normal soap + water massaged during min 20 sec work better on the virus than alcohol.

My 92 year old mother recommends 1500mg of vitamin C per day, spread out over the day, as a preventative. She has followed this for years, and it seems to be working for her. ;D

I read somewhere that 1 litre of Terry's "Ginger Slut" alcoholic ginger beer will cure anything from Corona virus to Herpes, so I'm drinking as much as I can. I also read that Scomo (our great leader and all around good guy) is handing out $750 to every VA Gold Card holder, so while I'm earning 6 figures (USD) and don't need no welfare money, I'll use it to buy bike parts with, to support the local industry, especially bidding on Ebay items while drunk on my home brewed ginger beer........... ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Yes, I have used vitamin C in high doses for many years, mostly quitting nicotine and later periods when going to become sick or very tired.

 Recent years not that much.

Many years ago my girlfriend noted the sour extra sticky fill she got in higher doses thanks to the vitamin C!  :D

I'll go for 4-5 grams/day now.

Maybe cure some womens cramping legs, knee to knee syndrom. A few bottles of Terry's juice change that to a great smile with knees at the ears!

Good point Per, only problem here is that physical touching is out, so I'll just sit around and drink my home made rocket fuel. I checked my latest batch that i only bottled on Sunday and 2 have exploded, shattering the glass bottles! Not sure why, but hopefully it was just a one off occurrence, I think I only have 40 litres left? Bugger! ;D

I thought it was hilarious! I drove 100 miles after work yesterday to buy a Henry Be front wheel to match the ones I have for the rear, and got sucked into buying a KZ1000 front wheel an d two CB750 rears. I figured that if this is tghe end of the world as we know it, I should be stocking up on alcohol and motorcycle parts........ ;D

The beer distributor my daughter orders for set a record of sorts, they sold 10,000 cases of Busch light in under 24 hours. This is not a hugely populated area, two towns way under 40,000 each and a whole lot of farm towns in between. We've graduated from hoarding TP my friends,

.......We've graduated from hoarding TP my friends,

Dang Don, good for you! I hope it stays that way.
Not so for us. I took a chance on feeling good today and headed to the local Target Store because their website said they had chicken. Damn liars! No chicken, no beef, no strawberry ice cream nor refried beans. And since I’m too lazy to post this over in the “what pisses me off” neighborhood, they also had no vanilla flavoring for coffee...now that gets me uptight as I’ll be out by Friday.

It’s weird....today we took the grandkids to the park. Spent time on the swings, digging in the sand pits, you know all those fun things with kids. Life seemed normal. Then to visit the store with semi hopes, and zip. Pushed my cart up the toothpaste isle and left it. Even the gluten free junk is gone. It’ll be my bi-weekly adventure. Can’t wait to try again.

Mr Mike, Stater Bros are opening 15 minutes early just for 65 + . That's 7:45 , I see you are in Chino so there should be one  close. If you meet the minimum age requirements you are good to go!

Tucson major whom has been in office 3 months  declared a state of emergency and ordered all bars, movie theaters, and gyms closed through the end of March.
All restaurants are now drive through/carry out /delivery only after 8pm tonight, 40 minutes ago.
There are 4 cases of COVID-19 in Pima County (Tucson area), 9 cases up in Maricopa county (Phoenix area), 5 in Pinal County, and 1 in Graham County and 1 in Navaho County

It is a bit extreme I think given the number of cases but a virus like this is a serious threat to anyone who gets a bad case of it and it is serious for anyone 65^ or that has a secondary illness/condition making them suceptible to the virus.
But, I guess extreme measures are needed to blunt and flatten the curve. Let's all pray for healing for those whom have contracted it and for protection and strength to those most at risk.
Wash your hands frequently and remain calm. If you get COVID-19 and you develop difficulty breathing then immediately go to the ER, after calling them so they can be ready for you. For most, just treat it like the flu:
- plenty of rest
- acetaminophen for fever
- cold/cough medicine for relief from symptoms/for making you feel more comfortable
- plenty of liquids (not caffeinated, you have to drink ounce for ounce as much water as every ounce of caffeinated beverage in addition to drinking in ounces 1/2 your body weight measured in pounds. So if 1/2 your body weight is 100, then you typically should be drinking 100 ounces of water a day plus ounce for ounce additional water for the caffeinated drinks. Alcohol isn't a good idea when sick as it dehydrates you too.

So, wash your hands frequently and always cover your cough and sneeze so germs aren't getting launched airborne. Cough or sneeze into a tissue or into your sleeve or crook of the arm. You need to have your lips touching the cloth or tissue if possible. You want to seal the sir to filter through the tissue or your sleeve. Give it a moment after the cough or sneeze so the germs land.
