;D 3 72' 750's. #1 900cc job, runs ok for 18yrs of hibernation. #2  all there and... lets say it all together now folks... ENGINE REBUILD!  Todays contestant hails from a back yard in the western part of the city where the weather only damaged 50% of the cylinders due to MIA carbs. for an unknown amount of years #3 Will enjoy another rebuilt engine that smells like it was run slap out of oil and what parts I have which is close to 90% there. Should keep me off the streets.

Hell I'd be happy to have one that runs... But if you want to split hairs, I've got my F2 project bike, and my old GS650E which is most likely scrap metal by this time.  It's been outside with the cylinders open to atmosphere much longer than I want to contemplate.  :'(

Two here at the moment, just the 550K and the H100, the fleet will definitely be getting expanded in the future though ;D There will definitely be a 675 Daytona joining the Hondas when I get home from here, and probably a mid 80s CB750 DOHC :o too :)

Unfortunately the wife is insisting on a one in one out policy on anything with an engine at the minute, so either the car fleet will have to decrease accordingly :( Or, I extend the policy to the female residents of my house 8)

My wife says I can only have one woman (her), so I compensate by having more than one bike.  Four at the moment.  At one time I had 10 sitting around, but that became ridiculous.  10 women would probably be too many, too.

We should call ourselves homo sapiens motorcyclis packraticus!!

I sense a change in the weather, for the good, so have actually put mind to starting to prep the Mistress and Sophie for the upcoming season.

The retrofication of Sophie started yesterday: off with the high bars and on with lower superbike ones. Off with the stock switchgear, in preparation for the nice retro (early '70s) NOS polished stuff which is en route from Greece as we speak. Off with the brake/tail light which wouldn't have looked out of place on the Titanic, and on with a much more svelte one from a '68 CL175. Off with the turn signals, ditto.

And so it goes....

Meanwhile Boy George sits in so many boxes and sulks...

Hey KC, Don't guess I realized that you had any Kaw Triple stuff. 8) When those things came out, they sure terrorized a lot of the so called Bad Bikes of the time. Mad folks back up and pay attention.

First Mach IV I drove, I thought I saw God. The whole experience or smoke, rattle and that 2 stroke banshee wail added to making the bike seem so blindingly fast. Now have bikes that are 2 seconds or more quicker in the 1/4, but do it so effortlessly you don't even notice.

         Hey 6pk,
Never got the chance to test out a Kaw triple. I read about their speed and power when the MachIII came out and then the IV. Closest thing I've got to one of those, is my RD350. It's pretty perky, but not near what the 500 & 750 Kaws are. Now, if I had the rest of the RZ350 (only have the rolling chassis w/gas tank and seat of that one), I could experience a bit more. ;D Better get out of here. You take care and I'll catch you later on, Bill :) ;)

Buddy had a 1970 Mach III and that was every bit as quick or quicker than the CB750 K0s, or it seemed then. When the Mach IV came out he got one of the first in our city. That bike seemed so impossibly fast then. I know they did mid 12s or so, but then it felt like low 11s or something - the whole experience was everything the CBs weren't. They were so refined and civilized while the Mach IV was the town bully.

I had a red '70 Kaw 500 back in late 1970 through early June '73 when I bought my K3. There were several things I remember allot about the H1. It was probably one of the most fun street bikes I ever had. The "whooooooooooooooop" sound it made as you were hard on the gas passing someone was unnerving and awesome, to anyone in my sights. Front wheel climbing sky ward with that unmistakable sound as you leaned forward into the bars to hold her down. It was quicker than my buddies Honda K1 and another buddies K2. But, the Honda's were just a little faster. Not by allot, but they were faster. When I was showing an indicated 118 they would just slowly walk past me, with the K1 being about 3-5 mph faster than the K2. I would guess the K2 was about 3-5 mph faster than the H1. For me another thing about the Kaw H1, was reliability. I either had a lemon or bad luck. In the time I had it, it rattled up 3 sets of pistons, all the CDI boxes "A", "B" and "C" went bad. The clutch had a nylon like screw that when the clutch cable was pulled this would screw in pushing on the clutch rod disengaging the clutch. It went bad and cocked in it's steel housing about 150 miles from home. That was the last straw for me. I fixed the bike, sold it and on June 9, 1973 I bought the K3 I still own. The poor soul who bought that H1 twisted the crank 2 weeks after I sold it. I have never had any problems with the K3(which was my first of many great Honda's), but I swore (often) and kept my promise, that I would never own another Kaw.

Our numbers also have changed:

The '75 Trident is now in the garage.  Still not running.
'78 Honda 750, still riding.
'02 Triumph Tiger 955i, replaces my Sprint ST. Daily grocery hauler and long distance tourer.

The wife got rid of the Shadow and the SV650 after that, and now rides a Beemer 650 twin.  She also picked up a Honda Ascot V-twin, not running, as a project.

So, we've got 5 total now.

70 750 K0
75 750 F0

I count two, they both run and are prety complete. My wife looks in the garage and sees seven. Three are my brothers, 76wing, project 77K and 77F parts bike. My chopper frame, 73 frame and 1/2 of a 76F frame

7.5 bikes, I am happy with 2 so 2.5 will be leaving.

Well, it's like this, I've got 1 that's running but needs new tires and carbs cleaned. I've got 10 that, with some parts and work, will be runners (motors turn w/comp) I've got 10 that need LOTS of work (along with parts). And I've got 5 that are disassembled. I think I've got the number right. I'll have to double check and get back to you. I picked mine up by trading around, buying some from a small salvage
for a small price and got some given to me. To date, my highest expense has been the sidecar for my 80'CB750K. I know that, when I really get into these projects, that will change. I had others that I've sold (3- 81' XS650 Yamahas, 1- 85' TY350 Yamaha and I traded a 71' Suzuki TS125 for an early 60's 250 Jawa)

In one shape or another, my collection includes:
     a 74' CZ175 Street bike; a 73' H-D Sprint (minus motor & electrics (Promised to bucky kat); 73' Hodaka 100cc Road Toad (sold); Honda- 80' CB750K w/sidecar, 80' CB650C (2 now), 78' CB550K, 77' CB550K, 73' CB500K, 2- 74' CB450K7s, a 74' CL450K6, a 70' CB450K3 (450 stuff in negotiations), a 75' CB400F, a 73' CB350F (sold), a 63' CB77 (305) (grown into enough to build possibly 2 bikes now), a 62' CL72 (250) (traded) and a 69' Z50A; Jawa 250, a 56' 50cc; Kawasaki F-9 350 Big Horn (sold)  Suzuki- 2- TS400s (most of 2 bikes), an early 70's TS 185, 71' TS125 and a 73' RV90; Yamaha- 75' XS650B, 73' TX650 (sold), An 81' SR500G, a 75' DT400B, 2- MX400Bs, a 73' RD350, an 84' RZ350 (complete rolling chassis w/ gas tank and seat), a 78' DT250E, a 78' DT175 (2 others in parts)  And I've got an 82' Gold Wing (parts job) coming
Now, remember at least 95% of these need quite a bit if work and a fair amount of
parts. Also remember, you asked. Let's just say that I have a habit of picking up strays and leave it
     at that. ;D
                                                        Later on, Bill :) ;)

     I now have 5 runners: GPZ1100, CBX, '80 CB750K, '80 CB650C and '72 SL350K2

When it's all said and done, I hope to be down to:

      the '80 CBX, '80 CB750K, '79 CB750A (maybe), '80 CB650C (maybe), '72 SL350K2, 60's Jawa 250, '72 CZ175 and Jawa 50

At least, that's my goal.  ::)  ;)   Still too many for me to easily keep up with. :D

Saw that this was brought up again and thought I'd make my changes to reflect what I now have AND what I hope to be rid of.

                                     Take care, Bill ;)
