Genuine? Yoshimura K7 exhaust: SOLVED
« on: March 17, 2020, 09:05:10 AM »
Snagged this exhaust for cheap due to the looks but everything feels solid. It was billed as a genuine Yoshimura system. Can anyone verify that from looking? Or is there any markings that give it away?

I would bet that it is not, a lot of sellers claim that.

The best Yoshi's were hand bent and the downtubes were curved, wish I had one!

I think that could be one of the Dixon Racing Yoshimura pipes, try to find a copy of their old catalogue, it's been mentioned on here years back

It is from across the pond so seems like a good guess. Trying to see what I can find about that catalog now

I snagged this at the same time I decided to just order a new Delkevic header so I'm just trying to see if this is worth the hassle of restoring and using or if I should just clean it up to resell it

That's it! I think I have one somewhere too, it's a very lightweight pipe, revvy and loud.

Hmmmm, maybe I'll clean it up and use it and resell the Delkevic? Do you have any idea what the value of the Yoshimura is around? Cleaned up of course.

That is now the thing with parts like these...there may be only a couple left in the world, but there may also only be a couple people willing to pay for it.  Getting them together at the right place and the right time can be a problem.
If it works good, it looks good...

Well once I clean it up I guess we'll see what the case is. I'm sure I could move it along for at least what I got it for to someone who would use it if I don't end up.

Not the original hand bent Yoshi

Just because it wasn't hand bent doesn't mean it isn't a Yoshimura. Dixon Racing was the authorized retailer for Yoshimura in europe and those pipes were made specifically for them by Yoshimura

Thanks for helping to confirm it! If you don't mind me asking, how much did they cost you?

Benelli has the can, the other has same diameter pipe all the way, they came two ways. Bent in one piece  and cut and welded 2 pc's I think.
Machine bent Yoshi are far more common than hand bent.

They finally arrived and I've started lightly working on them, first trying to separate the headers from the collector. But I did spot this marking hiding under some rust, hard to get a photo of it.
