Carb disassembly question 750K2
« on: March 17, 2020, 06:14:35 PM »
Im disassembling my carbs and a piece of the screw head falls off. Has me wondering if these nuts are not meant to be removed and the marks are punch marks to keep the nut from backing out? Should I have removed the pin on the other side instead?

Thanks

I just rebuilt my k2 carbs and just pulled the cotter pins and dis-assembly was very easy.
Resurrecting a Herman Munster CB750 from a few old baskets of K2 and K7 parts.

They will go back on, but you may want to use a drop of thread locker to the threaded part of the shaft.

The nuts for the choke slide arms were staked.  It's a bit of a pain to get everything lined up again so the screw can go through the slide arm inside the carb body.  Just be patient.  A small drop of lockyight on these threads is a good idea when reassembling.

It is a bit of a pain to get it all lined up, but figured it out. Kept them disassembled for now. I took them completely apart to polish each piece, might as well do what I planned.

Thought about loctite after I realized they were probably staked. Thanks for the confirmation.
