“WORX SHOCKS” Information Request
« on: March 18, 2020, 06:12:51 AM »
The Rickman Honda CR I am restoring was a race machine for many years. The rear coil/ shock units are lightweight alloy body with adjustable spring platforms (see photo). They have air assist, not leaking, and no oil stains! Searching around (and with help from suppliers on this site), I’m guessing they are WORXSHOCKS.

I’ve sent them enquiries, but no responses. Is anyone using their products, where were they purchased? Do they sell parts or rebuilding service? What are the typical ranges for air pressure?  Thanks, in advance. Any info appreciated.

I have just taken these 2 pairs of Worx Shocks off of a pair of CB550 SOHC/4's. It may help you identify yours. They both had EMGO stamped around the bottom.

Julie...... thanks for the info. I went on their website and they show alloy shocks that look just like mine. I sent them another email and hope they will respond.

Those are not Worx or Works?? They are marked Shox, and stamped EMGO...

The original company was Works Performance Products, which went out of business after the founder died. His daughter started Worx Shocks. The pressurized shocks are not rebuild-able at home, and are pressurized with nitrogen to 250 PSI.
BTW, I know the guy in the ad. ;D

Scott...... thanks for that! Found them at <worxshocks.com>. Responded to my email and recognized their product. Totally rebuildable and they will do it. I plan to run them “as is”. When I tear it down to plate frame, I’ll send them out to California.

Scottly got it first. I bought a cb400f with a set of short Works, tracked them to Worx. I sold the cb, kept the lowering shocks.  I believe they were $700 new.

I pulled the springs from one the other day, and really cleaned it up. They are great looking, super light, and the spring perch allows almost 2” of static ride height adjustment. The blue and white springs may get a more conservative coat of paint.......

I seem to remember Works (and others) supplied the springs in different colours according to spring rate.

I had not put 2+2 together re the Worxshocks vs Works Performance. The set on my racebike should be refreshed. If I hear our season is delayed I'll send them off.

Painting the shock springs is a bit like trying to make smoothbore look more like round tops.. imo..
Period made are usually well received.  We want  to see a hot rod , back in the day bike...the one we couldnt have. AND STILL CANT..
To me a stock 4 piper  with stock air box  Rickman is  pretty boring.  And I would probably make alloy side covers to snazz it up. That is why I think your Rickman deserves an alloy chain guard.

Bwaller....... reasonable pricing, $120 for seals and nitrogen in both shocks. Bump stops $10 each and new shafts at $45 each. Checkout their website.

I seem to remember Works (and others) supplied the springs in different colours according to spring rate.

S&W used different color stripes on one end of the springs to code the spring rate. S&W became Progressive, who, from what I've read, will honor the S&W lifetime warranty. ;D
