Exhaust Stud Alternative
« on: March 18, 2020, 06:41:17 AM »
Stumbled on these a few days ago. Dorman bubble pack. They were on the board, in the “Help” Hardware section of a Canadian Tire Store. Caught my eye as they are same size as our exhaust port hardware. Each stud has a small end that appears to take a 6 mm socket, to drive them in. They come with flange nuts, that are locking.

WARNING: when I got home, I was packing away the other stuff I bought and realized these items were hanging in the “stupidly priced, but you are desperate” Section. I will be returning them. Probably 1/3 the price at a local auto parts store......

I bought replacements for my bike from the local Ace Hardware.

Dorman has 2 versions of that PN. 03411 is retail packaging, 03411B is the exact same but comes in a little orange box like their studs and nuts
It may be cheaper, it may not. I don't remember off the top of my head.
They're super common and should be available anywhere. It's for Ford 5.4s for example and they always have manifold leaks.

thats not terrible for 8 studs and 8 nuts if you ask me, but I have no idea how prices change outside the states

I don't mind 2 bucks a stud plus a bit for nut.l
But I don't want that he's sticking out..
Rather have  a setscrew with internal he's and cover end with acorn nut..
How long 55mm off to see setrscew price.
