Engine block mating gear spins freely. Is this a common issue? If so, what part is usually needed?

I’m happy to take the clutch cover off. But if I only have to do so once, I’d live to know if this is a common thing and if a part is needed.

Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Remember "Its always in the last place you look" COURSE IT IS YOU STOP LOOKIN THEN!

I'm gonna guess the oil pump/kick starter gear on the 750.
