Thanks Per, I once walked into a bank at lunchtime wearing my full face helmet (I was in the process of taking it off as I'd just parked my bike right outside) and a very nervous looking security guard drew his pistol and pointed it at me. Once he'd calmed down and noticed I was wearing my Army uniform he told me that the bank had been held up 3 weeks prior by a guy wearing a full face motorcycle helmet, and asked me not to wear it inside the bank again. Needless to say, I didn't. ;D

 :o  A stressful moment

Funnily enough, not really. Being a soldier you kind of get used to people pointing guns at you, and anyway, most security guards (and cops) rarely, if ever fire their weapons here, and having done a few range shoots with cops, they can’t shoot for #$%*. Of course, even a cop or a security guard would have a pretty good chance at hitting their target at point blank range, but any more than 10 yards away, they couldn’t hit the side of a barn.

Only a few months later, I had a cop point a gun at me, and he was shaking so bad that as drunk as I was, I couldn’t help but laugh at him. I did get arrested, but only after I punched his police dog and he had to call for back up. The only thing that pissed me off was having to walk all the way back to where I’d parked my K1, so I could ride back to the barracks, still drunk. The things we did in our youths, and survived....... ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

The number of bicycles, motorboats, and toys other than Motorcycles sold in the US has been unbelievable. I have noticed motorcycles for sale are priced much lower this year than last, and there are many more for sale. People need the $ I think.

My brother owns a bicycle shop and sold all his inventory 2 months ago, which has never happened to him before.  He is having a difficult time finding suppliers to sell him new products. Everyone is sold out across the whole country.

Apparently all our  bike shops sold all their stock over here (Brisbane) too according to the newspapers.
Then it appeared people were whining that there was inexperienced bike riders all over the roads.
Must be true, I read that in the paper as well.

Geez it's pretty bad when people criticize your bicycle riding skills, unless you're 9 years old and they're your schoolmates? Luckily we haven't had a spike in bicycle sales that I'm aware of, probably because it's Melbourne, and winter, so too bloody cold to be riding around on pushbikes. If it wasn't for the fact that traffic seems just as bad as it was pre-CV now, a few months ago there was a real hope that the big winner from this would have been the environment, but that was only a short lived "pie in the sky" ideal.

Sadly our Covid-19 figures have gone thru the roof after security guards who were supposed to be enforcing quarantine procedures for returnees from overseas who were being quarantined in 3 city hotels were taking the Covid-19 positive detainees on shopping trips, letting them wander around the hotels, and in some cases, having sex with them, then infecting their own families, friends and anyone else they came into contact with.

Nothing on the scale seen in the US, but Melbourne is slowly going back into lockdown suburb by suburb, and this isn't gonna go away anytime soon. The security companies (one of which I worked for many years ago, and I can attest that they were the most incompetent bunch of "rent a cops" I'd ever had the misfortune to work with, you only had to have a pulse to get a job with them, and some couldn't even speak English) have all been fired and now the police and the Army are enforcing the quarantine rules at those hotels. As is often the case, they've closed the stable door, after the horse has bolted............

I was just watching one of the American news channels, and they were saying I'd certainly agree with, people are staying the hell away from hospitals at the moment, for fear of picking up the virus, with ER cases down 42% across the US.

I had reconstructive facial surgery last year and am supposed to go back for my 6 monthly check up in May, but I kept cancelling it, and last time the lady at the hospital asked why, and I just told her the truth, "I don't want to go in there fit and healthy, and come out with Corona Virus". She assured me that it wouldn't happen, but I'm not prepared to take the risk, my face feels fine, and I'm happy to wait until all this crap is over.

Anyway, they've got enough problems to deal with, without me adding to them. Likewise, I'll probably need liver surgery sooner or later as I've got a good size tumor growing in there, but once again, if it's not hurting, there's no hurry........... ;D

Terry want to get that liver surgery done before tumor grows to substantially bigger. Better to have a larger portion remain that is disease free than try to regrow the bulk of that organ.

Thanks guys, my bariatric surgeon is keen to snip it out if it gets any bigger, I have to have another ultrasound in a few weeks to see if its enlarged, if it has I guess I'll have to run the CV gauntlet and get myself to the hospital, but I'd rather not. ;D

Thanks Dave, I guess I’ll probably have to, I’d almost forgotten about it until my GP mentioned it when I spoke to him a few weeks ago (phone consultations are all the rage now) and asked if I was going to get it seen to, so I suppose I should. I’d rather be riding my bikes though...... ;D

I can understand your reluctance in going to hospital but mate, it is serious and you should bounce back quickly. Unfortunately Spotty is going to have to drink your Ginger beer while you are recovering until given the clean bill of health for your liver. Cannot be pickling what remains after surgery and after you are healed you can drink again. Need to be around to give us crap over everything and provide a bit of entertaining read as you put together the fantasy bikes and regale us with tales of your builds and rides.
Please don't delay it.

Yeah, Terry.  Get that liver fixed.  A few years ago I was diagnosed with Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease when I had a CT scan for kidney stones.  They sent me to a gastroenterologist, but the doc didn’t make a big deal out of it so neither did I. I had a colonoscopy last summer by a new gastroenterologist and he was firm with me.  I wasn’t really overweight, but he said I need to shed some lbs.  I’ve lost 30+ lbs. and have kept it off.  No sugar, no fried food, no processed food, no white flour, low carb, low calorie diet, lots of veg, good fats, and no booze.  I gave up alcohol 10 years ago, so that wasn’t hard.  I did a bunch of research and found which foods were best for the liver.  Your liver is one of the only organs, if not the only one, that can completely heal itself.  The experts say probably more than 50% of the US population have NAFLD and don’t even know it.  Even skinny people.  Ticking time bombs.  Our American diet is horrible, which I’m thinking is a big part of why the CV is doing what it’s doing in our country.

Thanks Bud, I saw our chief medical officer say that CV doesn't discriminate, but I know what you're saying. I've had 4 major, and 8 minor surgeries since 2018, (gastric bypass kicked it off, lost 150 pounds in 14 months) and last year my bariatric surgeon went back for some exploratory surgery as I was getting some pain in the area of my liver. She cut off some fatty deposits but didn't go into my liver, as at that stage the tumor wasn't quite as big as would require immediate surgery, but if it's grown another .25 of a mm when I have my next ultrasound, it's coming out.

I suppose that's another benefit of "working from home", I don't need any sick leave, as long as I can log on in the morning and log off in the afternoon, I'm golden, which is handy, because I still owe my employer around 2 weeks sick leave after all the time I've spent in and out of hospitals since 2018. ;D

It is strange how civilized and otherwise intelligent working people act as idiots with no thoughts at all about the deadly virus is among us and will continue to spread with their help.

I saw photos from a typical holiday resort beach in Sweden. Yes, mostly Swedish people that "should" have something between the ears.  People are crowded as no virus existed at all. They will spread the sh!t and say, I did not see that coming as the junta usually say.

Not people from 3rd world where wrong or no food make the generations to grow up with retarded brain capacity.

People acted better when the HIV was alarmed from 1987 and a few years after.

Have all Internet platforms made the people to idiots, likes hunting narcissists without capacity to think and understand what happen around them?

Different with technical forums like this.

I'm no longer proud of my country.
Lottery win and migration is  an often thought. Escape from idiots and dark cold winter of 4 months totally wasted.
Why waste 1/3 of my remaining life?
Maybe only 15 years of biking left.
My bikes are one issue. I must bring them with me. With them comes tools and parts.
