Is there anyone that thinks it's a hoax?

I know 3 people that have gotten it and all survived.  They got it early on before they really started diagnosing it. Before they had developed good therapies.

If only a few out of a hundred die, that's seems low, unless your friend or family member is one of the few. A friend of mine had 3 weeks in icu, his hospital bill is in the hundreds of thousands. In Arizona some hospitals are 100% full and they are using beer trucks to store dead bodies because they have no room in the morgues.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

A 52 year old pal of mine was the first Covid death in Michigan.

Sorry to hear.  How do you feel when you hear [or read] someone state that it is just a hoax?

If people need to say that to get through the day, well, ok, but they have their heads in the sand.
We have 5 family members working in area hospitals.... maybe the judge should assign safety violators to spend some time in an ER or a morgue.

Wow, I've just read the last two pages of this thread, and can't believe how it's gone down hill so fast? Covid-19 is real, it doesn't care what your politics are, if you get it, you'll get sick, and depending on your age and state of health it may kill you, your friends and your loved ones. The reason other countries (like Oz) have had so few deaths (126 last time I looked) is because our various governments didn't politicize the virus, they took action on advice from the experts: doctors, not other politicians.

Sure, the situation here is not perfect. Mistakes have been made, people with their heads in the sand have flouted the law, and our state government bungled the enforcement of isolation of folks with CV at 3 hotels which has caused a second wave. We're locked down for 6 weeks, and from midnight tonight, if we do go out (for essential reasons only) we have to wear masks. It's a pain in the arse, no-one wants to be told to stay home, but we want this virus gone as soon as possible, and if this is the only way to achieve it, then so be it.

The first step anywhere to ensure this threat is removed, is to agree that it exists, and take the advice of the experts, not the politicians.
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

134 new deaths reported today, and the rate of positive tests was 23%. The spread seems to be leveling off since restrictions were reinstated.
Before this all started, I would occasionally get a carnitas taco from Ribierto's in Prescott Valley. I think they also have shops in Phoenix, as I recall an early morning to meet the crane when dissembling the huge solar dish near the airport, when someone brought us breakfast burritos? Perhaps Carnivorous Chicken could confirm that, since he lived there? ;)
Anyway, today when shopping at Walmart, I discovered Del Real Foods brand "slow-cooked pork Carnitas", right next to the Bob Evans mashed potatos. It's a 15 oz package of shredded pork that you nuke, and it's as good or better than Ribierto's, IMHO. ;D After I found it, I backtracked to the dairy section and got some sour cream and found guacamole in the same cooler. Mmmm.

Data about earlier seasonal flu in US.
"CDC estimates that from 2010-2011 to 2013-2014, influenza-associated deaths in the United States ranged from a low of 12,000 (during 2011-2012) to a high of 56,000 (during 2012-2013)."
https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/season/flu-season-2017-2018.htm

There are other numbers now.

I wonder if all will share this conclusion? Origin and how it began will probably be a hot potato for decades to come.

About Mexican food.
Some hot spices and habanero chili might help and must be available in Canada too?
"Mexican spice mixes" to add into fried minced meat, tortilla bread etc. All shops around here have it. Mostly the Tex-Mex type.

It is anorher thing to get all served at a restaurant, only order, eat and pay.

My DIY carnitas tacos are better than from a restaurant. ;D I don't really care for super hot chilies such as habernero. I've also added another culinary delight since the #$%* started in the form of "baby bella" mushrooms; I like them best when cooked on my George Foreman grill next to a piece of cow. ;D

I don't want to make Mexican food , I want to just buy it in a Mexican place.. once in a while. .

One of the few good things here at the moment is I can order food via Menulog, Uber eats etc, generally with no additional delivery fees. I don't eat enough to justify an order (usually there's a minimum order price of $20-25 for free delivery) but as there are four of us in the house at any one time, I'll order food in for a change from the humdrum of home cooking. ;D

I too really miss going out to restaurants.   Sure, I make Mexican food, had smoked chicken verde enchiladas the other day but it sure is nice to go out, order a cocktail and be served good food.

Since the pandemic got serious, at end of March, my wife and I have only gone out once, and we sat outside on the patio, relatively safe.  For lunch when I am in Austin, I will hit one of the many "taco trailers", seems safe.

Not sure about Ribierto's, but PHX is full of other 'berto's -- Filiberto's is probably the most prominent and a guaranteed gut bomb, but good after 1am. Some great places in PHX though -- Tacos Mich (short for Michoacan) has two or three spots with cheap tacos on Tuesday or Wednesdays, one of my favs. If you haven't been through Guadalupe, a small, unincorporated part of Maricopa County between Phoenix, Tempe, and Chandler, they have some great food. It's almost completely Mexican, Mexican-American and First Nations. Del Yaqui is one of the better spots in there. Los Favoritos in Tempe is killer too. I try to avoid the sit-down places because they're too Americanized. There's great Mariscos on the corner of 48th and Southern.

No shortage of good choices here, but we've been cooking at home after bi-weekly trips to the store in the early AM to avoid crowds. We get a roasted chicken with sides (nopales, cebollitas, rice, tortillas) every two weeks or so as well, but Sunday we hit up an amazing roadside asado place and stocked up for three days -- chorizo, whole grilled chicken, arrachera, chiles, stuffed chiles, cebollitas, nopales... finished it off last night.

I'm just hoping some of my favorite sit-down restaurants here don't close. And I'm itching to get back to them. Many are open with distancing and masks in place, but I'm not rolling those dice.

Not to be the perpetual downer, and I am happy to talk tacos all day, but the CDC announced that infection rates in some parts of the US could be between 2 and 13 times higher than reported, meaning people are unknowingly carrying it and infecting more. And yesterday was the first time that there were more than 1000 deaths in the USA in one day since May.

I went on a little binge and bought 5 Echo chainsaws this winter Steve. Kind of like Honda 750's where you need one of every year and color  :D  Unfortunately from what I have read name brand chainsaws cost a small fortune for our Australian brothers.
OK Folks sorry for the hijack now back to that cheerful Pandemic stuff.
