I read a few days ago that some members have paid as low as $1.67 per gallon of gas. I checked around here ( upstate NY) and we are still at $2.35. diesel is still around $3 and ethanol free is $3+. That may have been a 30 cent savings from a couple weeks ago, Waiting for fuel prices to drop, then it'll be time to fill every bike tank and fuel jug before it shoots up past $5 again.
My family is in self lockdown mode for at least a couple more weeks no matter what our leaders tell us. The numbers of the sick are rising but the testing has stopped here and only actively administered downstate. So there is no testing and no numbers to tell how many or how far the virus has spread. The sick are told to let it run its course at home, no hospital beds will be available for the sick, so people other than the infected can still get the health care that they need in the hospitals, and reduce the spread of virus to healthcare workers.
We disinfect every thing all the time,we treat all surfaces like it has wet paint on it,lotsa gloves and washing laundry going on around here, steam cleaning the floors and bathroom.....the car and our clothes after going to the hospital ....like everything has wet paint on it. We burn the envelopes out back that come in the mail, we get the mail with disposable gloves, sometimes we take pics of the mail and burn it just so it doesn't enter the house. My work trucks sit in the driveway the insides are cleaner than they have been in a very long time especially in the hard to get to places and smelling bleachy clean.
I'll be cleaning the garage out next warm day , consolidating parts and possibly building some chicken coops and rabbit hutches again.
My daughter eyeballed some extra windows that I saved over the years and is talking about a small green house to start growing some veggies. Once the warm weather comes in I expect the TV will be off and the boredom we are now experiencing will be over until this crisis is over. It's all fun and games .
