I left negative feedback for a seller in Germany yesterday, they immediately sent me a message saying that due to Covid-19 they couldn’t ship to Australia.

I bought a complete used Morini clutch from Frankfurt on 23 June 2020, and it was delivered to Warragul on 21 July 2020.

Feel free to rant some more!  ;D

Yep, they were full of sh1t mate, I had a Z1 head, cams, 2 x crankshafts and an alternator Fedexed out from Covid-central (Florida) last Friday, and they were delivered today. I did wear a mask, sanitize my hands 7 times and said 14 Hail Mary's though, just in case someone coughed on my parts........... ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Personally I think some folks are using the pandemic as an excuse for their incompetence.....

I do too, I hear excuses all the time for shipping delays.

However, I ordered some Corvette parts last week, was surprised to get them in 2 days.
Coincidentally, they were shipped from Florida via FedEx.

I still have the bike I hope will allow me to get back into motorcycle touring languishing in a bond store on the west coast of the US with no sign of it moving in my direction any time some.

To be honest I have myself to blame. If I hadn't been so tardy organizing the import logistics I would have had the bike well before the corvid situation took over.

Actually (Actually............) I saw a doctor in the US say that due to the easy transmission of Covid-19 from person to person, your safest sex partner at the moment is yourself. Keeping that in mind, if you tell someone to go fcuk themselves, you're not being rude, you're actually giving them health advice. Stay safe, and go fcuk yourself! ;D

The ladies auxiliary of the Hell's Angels. :o ::) ::)

I couldn't help but wonder at the time how a bloke with a Honda 550(?) would have much influence with the Hell's Angels? I have fond memories of two local Hell's Angels saving me from the mother of all beatings from a group of skinheads who ambushed me outside a milkbar one sunday night in 1978.

I rode my shiny yellow CB750F around to the shop to pick up some orange juice, when I got there the carpark was empty, when I came out there were around 20 of these turds waiting for me, armed with baseball bats (baseball bats have never been used in Oz to play baseball) and assorted other weapons, and their "leader" was sitting on my bike with a big sh1t eating grin on his face.

I walked toward them, mentally calculating how many I could hurt before they eventually knocked me down and kicked the living crap out of me, when from nowhere two Hell's Angels roared their Harleys straight at them, and they scattered. I walked over to the bikers to thank them, and one of them said, "is that your bike?" I said "Yes" and he just said, "Jap sh1t", and they rode off. I didn't care about the insult, I was in their debt, and happy to be alive.

Somehow I don't think our English CB550 riding HA wannabe ex-member would have had that much influence with Hells Angels in Arizona........ ;D

Curious if anyone has kids or grandkids in the USA going back to school (or not) or if anyone or their kids are going to college.

I have friends who teach K-12 and the messaging for them has been up and down: you're going back, you're not going back, you're going back but... A student in Georgia was suspended for posting a photo of a crowded school hallway with no kids wearing masks, although the suspension was later lifted. There has been no leadership from the Department of Education; it's leader literally said there is no plan in place and you can't plan for a year "in anticipation for something that hasn't happened." Do you close the classroom? Quarantine? Close the school for two weeks? Etc. The definition of making a plan is preparing for something that hasn't happened yet, so there's that.

Reltedly, the University of Washington just released a report stating that if 95% of people wore masks outside, it would save 66,000 lives by December. Still, the resistance to mask-wearing continues in the USA, and the death toll is now well over 160,000.

** Forgot to add: here in Mexico, there is a national program for at-home education for young kids through television and radio that has started.

My daughter is enrolled at Rice University in Houston but it is an online program for her Masters.
[and was online all along, even before the pandemic]

This is a hot topic, should kids go back?  Austin ISD just decided to delay kids going back for three weeks...

Pretty hard to have a blanket national plan when the severity is different around different parts of the country and hot spots pop up.Education is run by the states and local municipalities and they need to determine the risks in their area and devise a plan to suit their needs.

I'm not so sure about that. Leaving decisions up to the states without a comprehensive national plan certainly hasn't been effective in any other aspects of controlling the virus. Some of the things I listed -- what to do if someone gets sick? -- seem to be applicable on a national scale. When the virus first struck California, Washington, and New York the hardest, many other states thought that it wasn't their problem and they didn't have to respond -- it was also the beginning of the idea that it was hitting blue states and that could be used politically. But now it's other places that didn't take it as seriously that are now paying the heaviest prices -- Florida, Texas, Arizona. I would hate to hear about school districts making "local" decisions because they think they have nothing to worry about later get slammed by the virus. These are children we are talking about, and some people seem to be casually making decisions that could result in unnecessary illness, long term health effects, and death.

We have one kid in 5th grade and another in 7th.  This is in a suburban Dallas school district.  School starts next week, and at first we were given the option of either having the kids go in person or taking classes online.  We chose online for at least the first quarter, but now everybody is doing online for at least the first four weeks.

We based our decision on the fact that we are lucky enough to have the option of keeping the kids at home.  We felt it was best for the teachers and staff to have as few kids to deal with in person as possible, at least until the schools have a better plan in place for how they're going to handle all this.  Also, with the likelihood that somebody at the school is going to test positive at some point and they're going to shut the school down anyway, we figure it's best for the kids to have a more stable learning situation.

This makes perfect sense -- and is why a plan would be good: someone will test positive at some point and it will likely result in the shutting of the entire school.

But you also raise a great point -- some people can't afford to not have their kids in schools because of breakfast and lunch programs or because parents are working. With the government threatening to shut off this support for schools that aren't opening, this could potentially be a disaster that adds to the economic effects of Covid -- already hitting poorer people much harder. So many people are making economic arguments for opening schools, but to me it's perverse to weigh economic concerns against kids' lives -- and choose economic concerns.

I saw yesterday that it's estimated that 300,000 folks in the US will have died in the US by the end of the year, with no end in sight. 5 million cases now, so one in sixty Americans currently has the virus, with thousands of new cases every day.

While I hate being in lockdown here in Victoria with only hundreds of new cases being recorded daily and less than 10 deaths per day (mostly old folks in several nursing homes that have been hit by CV) I understand that it's important to do this to eventually reduce the number of cases to nil, like we did after the last lockdown.

As much as a lockdown is the pits, it's the only way to reduce the numbers in any country, regardless of what the various state and federal governments are saying to further their political agendas. Unless the US starts looking around to see what the rest of the world is doing to reduce the spread of this virus and come up with a national plan, it won't be long before everyone in the US has it. Stay safe, and listen to the experts, not the politicians.

My friend took his son to start college on a football scholarship. He believes they already had the virus, caught on a job site over the summer. 50 positive tests but no symptoms.
My daughter may do online learning for her three pre-school through third grade kids. She's working from home three days a week and quit taking them to daycare. Family members are taking over the job on her in office days. We're trying to keep to ourselves, wearing masks and etc.
