Mounting breather cover to frame?
« on: March 21, 2020, 04:34:11 PM »
I picked up a modified Cb400f race frame today along with a spare engine in pieces. The breather cover has a mount welded to the top that attaches to the coil mounting bolts with a bracket. I’m guessing this was for rigidity... Any of you old sages know anything about this practice?

sorry, having trouble with the link. Go to the cb350/400f service manual of this site and click on the "supplement"
section. What your looking for is on the first page, soon as you click on it. Sorry for the confusion...Not sure if it answers your specific question, but explains how the system works(with a diagram )

The first page of the Cb400f supplement is about the breather hose...

It’s the breather cover, I’m just wondering if anyone has ever seen this extra engine mount from the top of the engine to the frame. Same idea on any bike!

I've seen it done on cb750 engines before. Same idea here. The thought is that the top of the engine is unsupported and attaching it to the frame provides additional rigidity. Id use it if you can.
All you gotta do is do what you gotta do.
