Chronoclassic connection questions
« on: March 23, 2020, 02:17:07 AM »
Was reading through the forum at work today and now I can't find the relevant posts I needed to clarify!

Just wanted to confirm that the neutral and oil pressure light wires connect to the Chronoclassic ground wire (black on the 6-pin connector)?

Power for these idiot lights comes from the AUX port on the m-unit blue and goes to the 9-pin grey and white/black connectors?

When the left or right turn signals are on, both the idiot lights currently flash. I'm guessing this is the issue fixed by the diodes I need to buy?

One of the posts I can't find mentioned a 4-1 AUX plug for the m-unit. I found one from Cognito that appears to be out of production, is there another one?

Thanks and stay safe

Was reading through the forum at work today and now I can't find the relevant posts I needed to clarify!

Just wanted to confirm that the neutral and oil pressure light wires connect to the Chronoclassic ground wire (black on the 6-pin connector)? Incorrect. The Honda Blue/Red wire connects to the MG White wire.
Honda Green/Red wire connects to MG Grey

Power for these idiot lights comes from the AUX port on the m-unit blue and goes to the 9-pin grey and white/black connectors? Incorrect. AUX to MG Red.

When the left or right turn signals are on, both the idiot lights currently flash. I'm guessing this is the issue fixed by the diodes I need to buy? Incorrect. The Chronoclassic has separate inputs for Turn L and Turn R. Honda Orange from mUnit L to Chrono White/Orange. Honda Blue from mUnit Turn R to Chrono White/Brown.

One of the posts I can't find mentioned a 4-1 AUX plug for the m-unit. I found one from Cognito that appears to be out of production, is there another one? MG no longer makes their multi plug. you can use a 4-way Molex instead.

Thanks and stay safe

Thanks Cal, I've wired the two turn signals to each individual connection.  Will have to recheck the wiring.  With the Molex,  do you add 3 splices to the AUX wire on one side, or is there a trick to making a 1-4 setup?

from AUX to Molex with a single wire. Then hop from pin-to-pin with a jump on the mUnit side. Then run single wires out from the harness side to each leg as you require.

That's a great solution, I've got some Deutsch connectors so will try them out.

Still don't get a neutral light or high beam.  Both the turn signal dash lights come on at once. Will draw a diagram of my circuit to see if anyone can spot the error.  I've been looking at it for so long I'm obviously missing something.

The Honda green/red wire is ground, not power to the gauge. Same is true for oil pressure.

Hi should be wired directly out from mUnit HI to gauge.

To troubleshoot your indicators, make note of the mUnit when Turn L is active. Output should be on, front and rear logs only should be on. Is there anything occurring in the Right side of mUnit of bulbs? Or just the dash?

The actual indicators work as expected,  only each side comes on when the appropriate button is pressed.  Likewise the lights and high beam work.  I've attached a diagram of how everything is wired.  I'm at work,  so it's from memory but there isn't much to it.  Left off horn,  brake lights etc as they are fine.

Until you observe the mUnit while pressing buttons, it’s hard to say. Also, what controls are you using? Stock controls, momentary buttons, aftermarket?

Controls are Motogadget 3 button and 2 button.  When I hit the left button the associated input and output lights on the m unit flash,  the input light goes out and the output light then keeps flashing.  Only the left indicators light up. Same for the other side,  but all right side lights.

Sometimes its the easiest solution.  I put my test light across all the connections.  No light between power and earth.  I did a lousy job on one of the terminations.  No idea why the turn signal lights worked. Good day when you learn something.

The lesson here is: observe the behavior of the mUnit. That will tell you whether or not you are wired up correctly.

Yes indeed.  Still don't have an oil pressure light and both the turn signal dash lights still come on. The latter might just be due to the intensity of the lights. Will investigate that tonight.
